What age for first portraits?
I'm curious what other parents have done. I have twin 3 month olds and am not sure if they are old enough, since they can't sit up or hold their heads up....

I took DD for portraits at 4 days old. The photographer mushes them around and into cute positions.

I had Lia from Imagine Studios come to my house when Ava was 6.5 months old.
With Jack I think we just brought him to Kiddie Kandids around the same age. He was still colicky so I didn't want to waste Lia's time.

We did them at 3 months but I wish I would have done newborn shots.

I took my son at 4 months. I felt comfortable taking him at that age and will do the same for the second. I wanted to do newborn shots but my ped recommended I stay away from taking a newborn to a photo studio until proper shots were given, to wait up until 8 weeks.

haha you know you will never know how your baby will react at that time I was really nervous about that too. He did fuss here and there but we were lucky to get some really nice shots and more than one pose. You really have to go in there and expect the unexpected. Like I wanted him to pose a certain way and have a certain stuffed animal next to him well...that all went out the window and he did what he wanted and what the lady recommened and the pictures are adorable. I went to Kiddie Kandids and were very happy with the way the treated me and DS. They even said if I was not happy with any of the pics that I could come back another day and no charge for sitting fees that didn't work out.

Also, I made sure he was fed and took a nap prior to the shoot. I think that was the hardest part.

I had them done at around 6 weeks. I would of did it sooner, but DS had baby acne bad and I had to wait till it went away.
The photographer I used laid the baby down and put him in all different postions. Also, he was just in his diaper, no clothes.

With mikayla, I took her for pics at 3.5 months
this baby, I am having a photographer come to my home on day 7 to take some newborn pics

I took DD to JCPenney at 6 weeks... she was absolutely miserable too but I did get a couple of cute shots.

Michele we had them done at 4 months. I know Sears has a coupon package for 3, 6, 9 and 12 months. We were planning on that but goofed, so we did 4, 8, and 12 months.

We are doing our's at one year! I would have loved to do them when ds was 3 months old or just born! (I had complications and it just did not work out the way I wanted)
