Re: what are "good signs" at the end of an interview??
thinking back to interviews where I got the job, I can think of these common factors:
- I would meet with more than 1 person on the same day - scheduled me for a follow up interview on the spot - this may sound weird, but when they smile a lot during the interview and vigorously shake your hand after the meeting is through eta: just thought of 1 more thing. I sent out thank you emails to everyone I interviewed with. the last few jobs I got, they actually responded to the thank you email with something like "it was a pleasure meeting you as well - looking forward to seeing you again on ___"

Re: what are "good signs" at the end of an interview??
The usual clues are when they keep you longer than 10 minutes, engage you in conversation, smile and make eye contact and give you an idea as to when you will be hearing from them.
"We are looking to make a decision this week." or "Thank you for your time, we hope to speak to you soon." are positive.
"Thank you - we'll be in touch if we find a position that suits you." is less so.
But I have been deceived before. I had one interview where I was interviewed, introduced to the partners and basically told I had the job. But then I never heard from them.
I had another interview where I could have sworn they hated me - but they called me the next day.
Did you send a Thank You note? I am always impressed by the interviewees that send a "Thank You" note. Except when it is poorly written and has bad grammar.
Good luck!

Re: what are "good signs" at the end of an interview??
So weird that this was posted, I had a 2.5 hour interview on Friday. Usually, it is 30 mins to an hour. By the time I was done I had to run to get some food. I ate 2 Chick-Fil-A sandwiches and then took a nap.
I can tell you some bad signs, from experience: - When they ask you the most insane questions ever and you are interviewing for a basic position. I was interviewing for an AP Coordinator position and the woman started asking me my favorite color, favorite ice cream and favorite activities. Never once did she ask about my experience. -If the interviewer shakes your hand like a fish when it is over...so gross but so foretelling

Re: what are "good signs" at the end of an interview??
thanks all.
i found that we "chatted" more than anything else during the interview. he also told me that i would know by the beginning of next week.
oh, and before i left he asked me what kind of notice i would have to give at work (i applied before i got fired). i took that as a good sign.
again, thanks for your replies

eta: just thought of 1 more thing. I sent out thank you emails to everyone I interviewed with. the last few jobs I got, they actually responded to the thank you email with something like "it was a pleasure meeting you as well - looking forward to seeing you again on ___"
When you send out a thank you email or fax, what should the letter include? Oretty much just thanking them for there time to meet with you and for their consideration?

Yes.
Thank them for their time, express your excitement about the potential of working there.
And if there was a specific thing you talked about that seemed to resonate with them you could highlight that.

here's a copy & paste job from a TY I sent once:
Dear _____,
Thank you for taking the time to meet with me today. The ______ position you have available sounds very interesting. The job, as you presented it, is a very good match for my skills and interests.
Should you require additional information, feel free to contact me at anytime. Again, thank you for the opportunity to interview with _________.
Kindest regards,

Remind them of your qualifications, tell them it was a pleasure to meet with them - and very important if there was something you chatted about mention it! It will make you stand out and they will remember you!
Good luck!
