What are my odds of having twins if
my dad is a twin and he didnt have any twins himself? I wasnt sure if it had to be on the male or female side to increase odds

I am pretty sure it has to be on the female side. My mom is a twin and my DH is a twin. My doctor told us that Dh being a twin didn't increase our chances but, My mom being a twin did.
It has to do with the female over-ovulating and releasing more than one egg at a time...

THank you I didnt know all of that. The reason I ask is I am only 5 weeks pregnant and people are already asking me if I am pregnant. I am guessing I am really showing early this time

it also depends on whether your father is an identical or a fraternal twin.
fraternal is inherited, identical is not.

im pretty sure the genetics comes from the maternal side of the family - so if ur mother was a fraternal twin u could have a chance (ovulate 2 eggs in 1 month)
if ur aunt has a daugter then she will most likely have a chance of having twins .
of course that doesnt necessarily mean u cant have twins. It can happen pretty much to anyone. My cousin had fraternal twins (no meds involved) and no one in the family has twins.

The fact that your dad was a fraternal twin could increase your chances of having twins. It would not have had any effect on his chances of conceiving twins.

My mom is a fraternal twin, and I had one baby last time, and just one baby this time. We'll see what's in store for my sister.

I don't know if anyone REALLY knows the answer to this question. I'm having identical twins. They say identical twins are totally random and not genetic. They also say fraternal twins can be genetic on the mother's side.
Well, my maternal grandma's family has a ton of twins including a set of identical twins AND a set of triplets (all naturally conceived, no fertility treatments). Meanwhile, my husband's mother's sister has identical twin girls too. So, when they say there is no predisposition for identical twins... Hmm!
