Re: What are you doing to make Easter special?

Trying to keep at least our stuff that we do at home normal for DD.
So I'll hide the plastic eggs tomorrow night out in the yard for her to do her egg hunt on Sunday morning.
I have stuff I ordered and picked up in Target for her Easter basket.

Tomorrow we will color eggs as we always do the Saturday before Easter.

Other than that- it sucks.
I have no plans for a dinner- because DH really doesn't eat a normal diet so it doesn't pay for me to make a traditional Easter meal that only I will eat- DD is picky and doesn't like much either.

What are you doing to make Easter special?

We will hide eggs for our traditional Easter morning egg hunt, and all the kids have Easter Baskets to open on Sunday as well. This afternoon we will color eggs, and also watch Good Friday services live streamed from our Parish. DH is making a ham for dinner on Sunday night. But, we usually go to CT on Easter to spend it with my aunt & uncle, and our extended family. Lots of family, food, cousins, and fun. I am so depressed it isn't happening this year.

We got her a basket and will do an egg hunt. She's so cute - she gave up pizza for Lent, so we'll have pizza for Easter dinner.

Re: What are you doing to make Easter special?

at our house we always do basket and egg hunt in the house.

Then we go to my parents where they have a basket and do an egg hunt outside (the Easter bunny comes to their house)

Since we cant do that this year I am going to do an egg hunt outside in addition to the inside one with some note from the Easter bunny saying that since we cant go to my parents he brought the hunt hear ( no idea exact wording but that will be the idea
Chat Icon Chat Icon )

we always go out to eat for Easter with my parents that wont happen so i will order something in.

question for those who hide outside do you do it the night before? for some reason i feel nervous doing it the night before(at my parents they just do it in the morning before we get there)

I do it the night before because DD always used to get up at the crack of dawn and I like to sleep as late as I can!

I am usually out there with a flash light at like 10 pm after I am sure she is asleep.

It's fine... I usually have plastic eggs filled with some little squishy toys or something, and some with jelly beans.
I've never had a problem.
I sometimes forget where i hid them all but....other than that, no issue. Chat Icon

What are you doing to make Easter special?

I don’t think it’ll be much different to be honest...they’re still coloring eggs, getting an Easter basket, doing an egg hunt. Those are their favorite parts of the day.

I’ll make a big breakfast and instead of having dinner at my in-laws we’ll just have it at home this year.

It will be beautiful out so I’m sure they’ll spend a lot of time playing in the yard.

Re: What are you doing to make Easter special?

So we just had passover. What we did:
1. Set up a zoom meeting with our entire family, and extended family. It was great to "see" everyone virtually.
2. I used my good dishes and set the table.
3. I put out things my kids made when they were in preschool and shared memories about the things they made.
4. I ordered the entire seder meal and ordered matzoh from Amazon. I did make the matzoh ball soup and hardboiled eggs myself. Yes it cost a bit more than normal, but it was worth every penny to not be so stressed out.
5. We relaxed a lot of the passover rules. I normally cook from scratch for all 8 days. This year, we are eating what we have.
6. I added an apple to the seder plate to represent computers and connectivity to the outside world. I think I am going to keep doing it for future seders to remind myself what this year was like.
7. I gave myself permission to let go of the idea of perfection and said it will be what it will be, and that is good enough. I did not have celery, so we used lettuce and it was fine.

We’re still doing an egg hunt in the morning and DD will get her Easter basket. I have a menu up on the fridge with an appetizer, entree and dessert. DD and I are making the dessert. We’re going to get dressed in actual clothes (no loungewear), I’ll do my hair and makeup, and we’ll eat in the dining room instead of our island with my fine china. DD is excited about it and she said she wants to wear some blush and lipgloss and make a toast. I think it’ll be fun!

Nothing. Maybe I’ll change my sheets and do extra cleaning. I usually travel for Easter, but I can’t do that this year.

She will get her Easter Basket. We will do an egg hunt in the yard- actually my mom wants to come and put the eggs out and watch DD find them- from at least 6 feet away.
We are making homemade pasta & easter dessert (not sure what else yet) and eating over Zoom with my parents and sister & her DH. My mom is so freaking devastated- she usually hosts like 30 people and lives for the prep of this holiday.

have a zoom easter. Have everyone agree to a time. We do a weekly Wednesday zoom call for our family to see each other. It gives something to look forward to.

I was able to get a 10 pound ham. So I’m cooking a meal for us and took a PtO day on Monday to drive ham all over Long Island and drop it off to family. What else to do with so much ham. Lol.

Other than that I ordered goodies from target and I’m counting down the moments until I can eat a Cadbury egg. Will do a hunt for the kids.

Nothing crazy. We are doing the egg hunt, Easter baskets, and ordering dinner in from a local restaurant. The only time they had available to pickup the meal was 6pm though. We waited too long to call lol

sounds wonderful.

I just had a chicken, stuffing and veggie.

no Zoom, no sharing.

Decorated as usual & will do egg hunt and Easter baskets & change out of pajamas to watch mass on tv. I don’t have any of the traditional foods though so we will just eat whatever.

This sounds so nice. Good job!

We'll decorate the eggs tomorrow. I heard there is a social distancing egg hunt around town so maybe I'll drive them around "hunting" for eggs. We'll do the basket and egg hunt in the morning. I may make them watch mass Chat Icon I ordered breakfast from the bagel place. I'm also going to set my dining room with the formal ware just to make it more holiday-ish special. I'll make dinner (against my wishes but every freaking place I tried was sold out...you snooze you lose!)

We'll just hang out in the yard, zoom with family and I plan on drinking my sorrows away in rose'. I bought a few. LOL

we are having a zoom breakfast with my parents in the morning.
then cooking a nice dinner during which we'll video chat with our bffs.
ds will get his easter basket during breakfast.
other than that, just eating too much and probably playing more rummikub.
