What are your Favorite Disney resorts (value, mod, & deluxe)

We are really stuck as to how we want to handle our next trip to Disney & trying to get ideas for resorts.

We are in NC, so we're considering a trip down for approx 3 nights, so we can get a "fix" Chat Icon

We are trying to make it enjoyable, but watch our budget. So trying to see all the best options.

TIA!

I loved port Orleans when I went...I think they changed its name though and it's a mod level!

I really like pop as a value. It's obviously not fancy, but the theming is cute, the food court is good and the buses there are great.

For moderate, Coronado springs. The poly is my favorite deluxe but that's big $$$

My favorite deluxe is the Poly. I love the theming and the location is great. It's so fun to watch the fireworks from the beach and you can't beat the monorail to MK and Epcot.

My favorite moderate is Coronado Springs. I know some people hate that it's spread out, but I liked it and felt that it made it quieter.

I haven't stayed at any values, but I'd like to try Pop Century some time.

We have only stayed at one so I'm not sure I'm qualified to call it a favorite but we loved the Boardwalk.

I would like to try Beach Club one day for the pool and some of the restaurants.

We are DVC members, so I've stayed at just about all, and even the hotels before we were members, and our absolute 2 favorites, and for different reasons for deluxe are The Beach Club ( BEST pool out of all ) and Animal Kingdom.

Keep the recs coming!

I've only been 1x & stayed at the Poly. We loved the location, people, theme, restaurants, location.

BUT I want to look into other options, because I want to be able to visit more often & the Poly is pricey!

I love the AKL. The poly was fun, very convenient. The AKL however to me is unique. All the others you can find other hotels in the us that sre similar but where else can you stay that has the same feel, animals all over (nice to sit with coffee or glass of wine and relax watching them. The hotel was also full of african art which was interesting. The theming is a bit dark for some but we loved it the two times we stayed. Cheaper than the monorail resorts. WL and AKL are the two cheapest deluxes.

For mods...we are trying POR this trip bc my girls ae very into princesses. Can't wait to see their faces when they find out we have a princess room. They know we are staying at POR but think.we are in a regular room not a royal guest one. I stayed 20. Years ago at CBR and had a great trip. We did have a car though which made the resort more doable.

Have you checked out POR royal guest room?

Re: What are your Favorite Disney resorts (value, mod, & deluxe)

As always LillyKat, your recs sound like what I'd like.

My girls (5 & 21/2 are ALL ABOUT PRINCESSES). We went to Boma for dinner, so saw a little of AKL & thought it was so beautiful & would be nice to see & enjoy the balcony.

I think if we only go for a few days, we would be more inclined to stick to mostly MK (except for maybe a 1/2 day at HS, to maybr see DisneyJr)

Beside monorail resorts, what are the easiest to get to MK?

Wilderness Lodge would be the easiest after the monorail resorts. It's a deluxe but it also happens to be the least expensive deluxe. It's one of my favorite places to stay. It's a quiet oasis after a day at the parks.

That's just a boat ride across, right?

Are there any others like that, or are they all via bus.

yup - just a boat ride. I remember as a kid we stayed at Fort Wilderness a lot and I was just as much in awe of the boat ride as I was of the park (back in the day when the only place that existed was MK).

The Boardwalk and Yacht Club/Beach Club offer boat service to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios, but it's quicker to walk. MK is by bus service.

The Contemporary is next in the line of less expensive MK area resorts. It's monorail to MK or a quick 5 minute walk.

ETA: all other resorts get you to MK by bus only.

we stayed at Wilderness lodge and LOVED it! it has boat access which ws invaluable. we were not going to go to disney this year but we are toying with the idea. i looked at fort wilderness cabins which has a full kitchen and boat access. staying close to MK is a priority for us but if we go this year, i think we might save a little money and check out POR or POFQ.

Do you have to fold up a stroller to get on the boat?

It depends on the boat. The bigger boats, no. The smaller boats, yes. They alternate so one smaller one will arrive and then a larger one.

Value-Pop Century
Mod-Caribbean Beach Resort
Deluxe-Grand Floridian

Got spoiled by GF last trip and not sure we would ever get a hotel off of the monorail again.
