last year we did trivets -got square ceramic tiles from Home Depot and the kids decorated them with permanent marker. Added felt to the back and they were done. Simple, easy and cute

I learned my lesson last year to not do mother's day/ fathers day gifts
One of my students whose mom left him broke down into tears and about a week later needed to go to the psych ward for a breakdown.
