What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
Sleeping arrangements, family visitors, personal care?
Ive been thinking about buying a mini fridge to store nighttime bottles, so I wont have to run across the entire house and down the stairs to get one. Also been considering moving out of my bedroom s-th, so dh can get sleep, he will have to go back to work right away.
All our family is out of state, so my mom is coming a week before my due date, and staying for a week or so after the baby is here. Other than that I have no idea. I know I dont want everyone here at once, but I also dont want new visitors every week for 3 months.

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
I am sure the gradnparents are coming down, but not sure exactly how long. My mom offered to come down and help, but not sure, since we had planned to be in a house by then and that might not happen.
We are getting the co-sleeper and I plan to breastfeed, so that will make it easier on me. DH will probably return to work within a week, so if needed, he will sleep on the futon, expecially if he is on-call. I don't want to wake him and I don't want him to wake us.
I know everyone is excited, but I am hoping to not have too much crowding in the first few weeks of adjusting.

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
I will have the baby in our room at night because I will be nursing (or that's the plan). During the day I'll have him sleep in his room.
DH will be home for a week, and my mom lives only a few minutes away, so I"ll have help at home for at least a solid week, and mom will come a few days a week to stay with me after that. I won't be able to keep my family/friends away, and they won't come until the weekends anyway, so I'll just have to see how that goes.

My plan is to not to have a plan and go with the flow! DH will take a week off from work when I get home from the hospital and I'm sure people will be around enough. I don't want anyone staying in my house - to me, that's not helpful. I want to BF so the food supply will always be on me

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
If I had it over to do again, DH would have a pumped bottle ready for him each night. I only did it here and there, he got lazy and hated the nights where I would announce that there was a bottle ready for him in the kitchen.
You really need your sleep. You can do each and every feeding, but in the beginning, BFing is draining. If your mom is staying with you, have a pumped bottle ready for her as well.
You may need to still get up in the middle of the night to pump again so you don't become engorged, but that is just another bottle in the bank.
I swear my kid was up every 1.5 hours in the beginning. DH works a lot. He could squeeze naps here and there, where I was unable to. If you are BFing, husbands have it easy.

How early can you introduce a bottle? I plan on pumping so DH can help for sure, but I heard you shouldn't mix bottle & breast that early on.

No one is going to be staying over, but I am sure my mom, MIL, and grandmother will be there almost daily. I want to put the baby in his crib from the beginning but now I am having second thoughts and thinking about registering for a bassinet. I am just going to go with the flow!

I started pumping at 4 days old when my milk came in. I had such an over supply that my left side became too big and too much for him to latch on to. No confusion at all.

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
DD's bassinet is already all set up in our room. So, she will be with us for the first few months, as I will be EBF.
My grandmother (mom's mom) has all intentions of being here for the birth, and to help out, so we shall see. I would feel more comfortable with that if I had a house with a guest room to offer her... My mom is a teacher, and her winter recess begins the day that is due (2.18), so I'm assuming that she and my dad will fly down on 2.16, and they will stay in a local motel or casino....
Hopefully will wait to make her appearance til then!

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
our DS will be sleeping in our room in his cradle. I contemplated this for a while and thought about putting him in the crib from the start but then decided to go with a cradle over a bassinet...am hoping since the cradle is similiar to my crib the transition over will be easy. I honestly could not find a bassisnet I liked!
I plan on keeping him in the cradle for about 6-8 weeks. DH will be home for three weeks and I don't plan on having anyone at the house, staying over. a few visitors but no one on top of the baby until at least 8 weeks! I have had an EXTREMELY difficvult pregnancy and my DH is going to take some extra time so I can recover from this while taking care of baby! In laws will surely be here but not staying with us, they are all local though so we will have a lot of help.

wanted to add....we had his crib set up in my room. I did not want to do a transisition at all, so from day 1 in his crib...then we just eventually moved his crib into his room.

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
My grandmother will be visiting around the time I deliver. I think my mom will take some time off of work and my husband will take a few days. My in-laws are retired.

Re: What are your plans for the first few weeks with baby?
We'll have a moses basket in our room for the first 4-6 weeks but all naps, etc whenever possible will be in the crib so there is little to no transition when we move the baby over at night.
We have a 2br coop so there will be no one staying with us, which I'm happy about. DH will have about a week home, which we need to discuss if it will include the days I'm in the hospital since I'm probably going to be there 3-4 with a c
As far as feeding, we're formula feeding.
