What are your thoughts about turning the "nice" side of the fence into the yard?

I was driving home tonight and saw a pretty nice house with the stockade fence with the nice side turned in. I have seen it done before but it just kinda bothers me. I am not exactly sure why. I felt like it took away from the curb appeal of the house. I kinda feel like it is not nice to your neighbors too.
What are your thoughts????

I don't have personal thoughts on it, only go by if it's allowed or not. I know in Suffolk you can turn it either way but some Nassau towns the nice side must face out. I guess if people are allowed to do it, I can only say they want to see what they are paying for.

I'd rather the nice side facing out.

so many homes I've seen were so nice, but the fences...

big turn off for me.

I don't care if the nice side is faced in or out.... We replaced our perimeter fence last summer and we purposely put the back side of it facing into our yard (so the neighbors have the "good side" to them).

For us it wasn't aesthetics, it was because I wanted our yard secure - if the slotted side is facing out, it gives anyone a way to climb it up and over into our yard, KWIM?

in my town it is the law that the nice side must face out.

it should be that way everywhere IMO
