What are your thoughts on booking tropical destinations during hurricane season?
DH and I are debating this. We both would really, really love a week or two at a resort this summer, with little to do other than swim and drink frothy things. But we're both anxious about the weather. I'd hate to put down money, get excited, and then have it ruined.
Thoughts?

I think Sandals has a hurricane guarantee, or you could buy travel incurance.

I believe Aruba is supposed to be outside the hurricaine belt. Also, if you are just looking for sitting by the pool and not necessarily the beach consider places like Scottsdale that has some of the most beautiful resorts.

Re: What are your thoughts on booking tropical destinations during hurricane season?
When we got married in 02' part of our honeymoon was at the Grand Bahama Island and during the peak hurricane season. We were there the first week in September. All I have to say is that it didn't rain until right before the plane was leaving. Now there was dark clouds in the distance, but they never made it to where we were thankfully. We had a beautiful experience. Good luck!

If you do decide to book, just make sure to purchase trip insurance. DH and I have travelled during hurricane season and have always been lucky- DR in Spetember, Jamaica in September, Cancun in June. We're thinking of booking a trip for this June and Riviera Maya and DR are in the running.
