What Baby Fruits/Veggies Cause Constipation?
Alex has ben constipated quite a bit recently, and I'm trying to remember which fruits/veggies can cause it? Her formula intake has been reduced b/c she is eating more solids, but not enough to constipate her I don't think. Any help would be appreciated.

Bananas can do it definitely and so can apples, sometimes pears.

not sure - but if you give her a little watered down prune juice (or baby food prunes) she will feel a lot better! (if she is complaining of course)

Re: What Baby Fruits/Veggies Cause Constipation?
my peditrician told us to limit bananas and applesauce because it binds them up.
Occasionally I will give DD prunes to help flush her out and luckily she loves them.

Yes, I give her a few spoonfuls of prunes and it definetly works!!! I'm just wondering who the culprit is...I'm thinking bananas, of course, her favorite.

Now I know bananas can be binding, but can constipation be caused by teething as well? She has ben teething pretty bad the past few days.

My doc actually told me the opposite can be true-he said saliva can tend to have a laxative effect and that is why the increased drool associated with teething can cause diarrhea sometimes.

Yeah, my friend said her DD had diarrhea when teething, so I guess Alex's constipation IS food-related. These kids will always keep us guessing!

Re: What Baby Fruits/Veggies Cause Constipation?
is she having cereal? for some parents I know it's the cereal that is the problem not the fruits and veggies.
