What Baby Mattress?
What mattress did you buy/register for your DC? I have read a few articles about certain mattresses being a contributing factor in SIDS, so I was thinking of going the Organic route. Thoughts? Please post what mattress you went with and why. Pics would be great too!! Feel free to share where you bought it and the cost if you'd like to!! TIA!

Based on recommendations from Baby Bargains, we went with the Colgate Classica II Crib Mattress (from BBB). It is made of foam and is very firm.

i went with a really cheap mattress from BRU that the baby bargains book said was good.
the people in the stores were also saying they're all pretty much the same. i think it's a sealy or something like that. i didn't want a foam mattress--i got one with springs

Our crib from Bellini came with a mattress, but when we were first shopping around for furniture, I asked a salesman at Behrs about the organic mattresses and he said they've never sold one....although they do sell them in the store, thought that was interesting

Yes thats it. From everything I read this was the most all around best mattress. Trust me I did a lot of research!! I read that the organic ones are somewhat hiped up and more expensive to get people to by them. I was looking into them as well.

We are going with this one
Simmons Sleep N MOre Crib and Toddler Bed Mattress
I read something saying that it was the flame retardant chemicals that was the link to SIDS and this one wasn't listed as having the flame retardent chemicals. (I don't know how true it is) I also liked that it had two firmess levels, one for infant and one for toddler

yep, that's what I've heard too... it is thought to be that, and foam degassing.
becuase of that, I registered for a naturepedic (organic cotton and no flame retardant)

is the one I decided on. I was looking at the serta organic, but it got such crappy reviews on the BRU website
