What brand of cereal to start with?
I was in the store and had no idea what to buy. We have a few weeks until we start but all I know is that the ped recommended starting with rice.

I like Happy Bellies-its got probiotics and comes in a cannister not a box with the stupid pour spout(I hate those )

I plan to get some Happy Bellies & Earth's Best Organic.

I started with Earth's best organic whole grain brown rice cereal. I also bought Happy Bellies oatmeal.
I will not buy anything that is not whole grain or not organic. I rather pay more it's much more nutrious than the brands that do not use the whole grain. I also don't want to take a chance of any pesticides or hesbicide even if in minute quantities to be in my baby's food. I am what you call an over paranoid mom.

Me too DD's 4-month appt. is next week and I plan to get one of these brands.

Single grain cann mean 2 things.
1- Single grain meaning only 1 grain (rice) (oatmeal) (barley) as opposed to multi grain (more than 1 kind of grain together, ex:rice and millet)
or it can mean
Whole grain refers to the fact that the grain contains all of its natural parts...the bran, the germ, and the endosperm. Things that are not whole grain have been processed (refined) and no longer contain the bran and germ.
Whole grain is definitely healthier than refined grains for a baby or an adult as it is more natural and contains more fiber. Some things will say "Made with whole grain", but that doesn't mean it's all whole grain...it means it's made with some, but you don't know how much. If you're looking for all whole grain, it will say that on the package...like "100% whole grain".

We started with oatmeal, and then stuck with it. I was afraid of the rice becuase Lily had had stomach issues, and I didn't want to complicate them.

I started with Gerber Organic but it bothered her stomach.
I then switched to Happy Bellies and love it and will never buy anything else!!! She has zero stomach issues, it actually makes her go. Cleans out her digestive system because it has probiotics in it. She loves the taste of the rice, oatmeal and the combined one.
I highly rec it!! I found it cheapest in BRU by Buy Buy Baby carries it too.
I wish I would have used it with my DS. He hated all the cereals and I think that really hurt his weight gain

I love the canister!! Very easy to use and travel with. That box is a nightmare!!!!!!!!
I also will only give her organic.
