what can I do for her?
My BFF is putting her cat down. He's been sick for awhile now and she made the decision it's time to put him down.
I've never really lost a pet I was close to, the way she's close to her cat. What can I do to help her through this? Is it weird to send flowers? Go out to dinner with her?

I think all of the above is appropriate. Sometimes a person just needs company and know they're not going through this alone.

Definitely just some company. We did recieve a few condolence cards after our dog passed.
