What can I give her for a really stuffy nose and a bad phlegm-y cough
Ever since Florida Bella's been nursing a cold...it started out with a runny nose there and has now progressed into a phlegm-y cough. It does not sound like it's in her chest...more of a bad post-nasal cough.
I'm not one for calling the ped and I don't like to medicate, but DH is on my case about "Can we at least give her something???"
So....BTDT mommies, I need your help. What do you feel safe giving your almost 2 year old in this kind of situation.
I've done the vicks, I've got the plug-ins going and the humidifier.
But I think we're in need of some OTC meds at this point

Usually when Lucas has a really bad cough (disturbs his sleep) I give him 1/2 tsp of children's delsum but otherwise I just run the cool mist humidifer and give tylenol.
You feel so bad hearing and seeing them that way but these things usually run fast...if she is sleeping I'd say maybe just a little tylenol where you feel she needs something.

Honestly, I love the J&J vapor bath. It doesnt last long, but I think it def. helps... (without having to give any meds)

I get a prescription RX from my ped. But I know that the active ingredients are the same as some of the OTC meds. Maybe call your ped and ask...

Our ped told us not to ever give him anything. So, we just use the humidifier and sometimes raise the matress a bit.

We do the same, and I make a bowl of warmed apple cider vinegar with fresh sliced ginger. Believe it or not it works.
ETA: I place the bowl under wherever he is sitting or sleeping....not to drink!

Thanks for all the suggestions The coughing seems to have subsided a bit this morning. I called the ped at 9..of course the nurse practitioner on today hasn't called me back 
So we're just letting it run it's course. I still don't want to give her anything...so we'll stick to all your suggestions

Saline nose drops for the stuffiness. other than that the ped wont let me give her anything for a cough.
