What can I take for...

Sorry if this is TMI, but I have always been "regular" and now it seems like I am totally out of wack. I am so uncomfortable. I haven't really, well you know, gone in a few days. I was wondering if there was anything I can take?
Sorry again if its TMI.Chat Icon

Re: What can I take for...

I know how you feel...I have the prenatals with stool softener (Citrical) but at one point they weren't even helping (weeks 12-15 or so). I still am not great, but I try to eat lots of fiber/bran. For breakfast I'll have shredded wheat or raisin bran, bran muffin. Someone told me you could take metamucil, but I never asked my doctor.

I have a problem with that without being preggo!!! My doctor told me metamucil was fine or even the peridiem tablets - those are a vegetable laxative.

The dr said increase fluids and fiber.

Re: What can I take for...

please start fiber (metamucil) and water!! I had an actual blockage that was VERY painful and had to be removed in the ER!!! The pain was very similar to labor!!!

my OB afterwards told me metamucil 3x a day and water. and limit TUMS!!! the calcium can cause blockage - use pepcid if you have a HB issue.

If you feel like you won't be able to get it out - you may even want an enema (I had one in the ER after the blockage removal Chat Icon ) so that it doesn't get stuck

I've always had this problem for as long as I can remember - and pregnancy just makes the whole process so much worse! Chat Icon
But - i swear by Colace - its gentle and you should feel absolutely no cramps - Metamucil is also good to take - but i find that it isn't as effective and quick in its resultsChat Icon
