What can my newborn be allergic too or is it excema?

Shes got a rash all over her face/neck/head and spots on her chest.. but nothing on arms and legs.

It first appeared after her first bath.. which I used Aquaphor.. My dd has excema and Aquaphor is what my derm told me to use and cleared it up. I stopped using, im now on my 3 rd type of soap and still has.

Im EBFing so its not an allergy to formula.

detergent used: all clear and free, and dreft.

Could be that she is allergic to dairy if you are BFing......... How are her stools? Any change in color or mucous?


You can try eliminating dairy and casein from yoru diet but it can take up to 2 weeks for it to me out of your system

I had asked my sil what symptoms my nephew had b/c he had allergy to BM and she said blood in stool, and spitting up. no rash

The rash didnt show up until after first bath.. If it was BM wouldnt it had shown up earlier? She has just started spitting up but not alot and not often. She has 1m ck up tomorow.. ill have to get the stool checked for blood. Havent seen any mucous.. color seems same.

DD had something similar. She had AWFUL cradle cap on her forehead and red scaly spots on her chest and arms. The ped. gave us a prescription cream to use 2x a day and she is completely cleared up!

i started breastfeeding and we still had a problem with milk allergy, wouldnt hurt to get her stool tested..excema is a symptom of milk allergy-BTW we ddint know DD had a milk allergy until she was 3-4 weeks old..also, is DC really fussy? My DD didnt spit up much really..she has a severe milk allergy..we had reflux around month 2-3...but it has since improved completely...
