What choice?
I am not a parent yet, not even TTC yet. But DH and I are trying to plan some things out. We live in a condo with a small second bedroom (right now an office, but can be a nursery one day). We have grown into our payments in our condo and if we have a baby here I can probably stay home for one year. However, DH wants a house...thinks we should get one so we can have a baby. But, if we buy a house on long island I will have no choice, and have to return to work right away...(12 weeks tops). So, what do you think makes more sense? Stay in the condo and have a baby or look for the house? DH fears that once we have a child it will be even harder to buy a house if we haven't done so already.

Re: What choice?
100% stay put. I am going back to work one day week and that is killing me. If you can do one baby in your condo than I say totally do it.

This is how I feel too. DH doesn't want to even TTC for a year, so he is into house hunting now. My gut tells me not to buy one...

My DH and I were looking at bigger houses, more land and we almost were going to do it but the payment was higher and I knew I didn't want pressure to go back to work and my gut was just telling me NO and i am so glad we didn't do it. Keep trying to convince DH.

Re: What choice?
If you can handle staying in the condo with a baby I would definitely do it. We bought a townhouse last year and although we both would love to buy a house right now, I'm so glad that we just went with the townhouse. (We have 2 bedrooms plus a large loft/office.) If we had bought a house with a bigger mortgage I would have to go back to work right away, but since we didn't I will be able to stay home for a while.

Re: What choice?
Thank you for your responses. We would both love more room, and have a house....but I am trying to think of what is more important...for me it would be staying home with a baby. But, our financial situation can change a lot in the next year. So, it might be worth it to go for the house. I hate big decisions!
