What color granite
Im in the process of trying to purchase materials for my kitchen renovation YAY!
I am getting "cinammon" cherry cabinets but my floor is a whitish gray ceramic tile. I don't want to change the floors b/c I don't want to rip them up they are fairly new. My appliances at the moment are white too.
My question is does the granite have to match my floors? Or is it more important to have it coordinate with the backsplash? I need help?! This is the one I was considering...

Re: What color granite
what type of backsplash did you have in mind? I would want it to match backsplash and the cabinets somewhat..your floors are more of a neutral color so IMO you dont have to worry about that.

That's what I was thinking that I should try to match the countertop and backsplash. Ideally I think I would want to do something beigy in terms of counter and tile but didn't know if I had too many neutrals going on with the floor being white
I did a quick search this is what I was thinking in terms of the tile but obviously I would get a beigy granite to match? Pic is too big =-(

Re: What color granite
my granite guy told me that if the floors are light and the cabinets dark (or not light) than the countertops should be on the lighter side...otherwise the floor stands out too much

Ya I think a beige backsplash and that countertop would look nice..the countertop looks like it has flecks of beige in it. How dark are your cabinets? do you have a pic?
Ive seen dark cabinets, dark countertop, beige-ish backsplash and a neutral color floor and that looks nice too.

Thanks Ricki! Then this supports my original decision. So many choices LOL.
MRs A Here are the cabinets although this is not my kitchen just the same cabinets but they are much lighter in person.

Re: What color granite
My cabinets are a cherry spice - so a lighter cherry. Floor is beige and terracotta colored and my backsplash (if I ever get it put in!) will match the floors, just a different pattern. I have dark granite countertops. Black galaxy. I opted for black appliances and it all ties together. I love the entire kitchen, especially the floor so I dont mind if it stands out at all - although the black galaxy shows every damn fingerprint so thats reason enough to stay away. I love it but its high maintenance. I wouldnt feel the need to match the backsplash & countertop, as long as the entire room ties together, you can pull a different color out.
ETA: I just realized who I was posting to - Hey Irene!!!! How are you????? Hows your sweet girl?

Re: What color granite
Irene I LOVE that granite Choice! I am thinking of doing a similar color. And I think it will look great with the cabinets!

Re: What color granite
we are redoing our kitchen in our soon-to-be bought condo. the tile guy told us that it is not crucial for the floor and the counter to match perfectly because you don't really see them at the same time (far away you can't see the counter due to glare and angle and close up the counter is the focus not the floor). Basically, you want your floor to match your cabinets, your cabinets to match your counter and your counter to match your blacksplash. At the same time, there should be something pulling them all together. HTH
