WHat color would you paint this bathroom to brighten it up?
This is the bathroom that I wanted to redo-- I wanted to replace the vanity, and the tub and the toilet. I just want everything BRIGHTER. The pic doesn't look too bad-- but trust me, it's dark.
Anyway-- I am going to shelve that project for now, but I can paint. Do I just do a light beige? That's so boring... but I think that's my only option.
Also will do trim in probably like BM White Dove-- my standard trim/door color.

I think a shade of blue might actually work well against the dark brown vanity.
I don't have any off the top of my head (haven't done blue in my house yet), but I think with the right accessories you could definitely update the look and make it an almost beachy-mod theme.

a buttery color would look nice. what if you just replaced the vanity countertop? That would really brighten things up.

Originally-- I just wanted to do the vanity as a whole, but from talking to contractors, it would compromise the tile-- which then in turn makes it a big job.
JUst replacing the counter top probably would be inexpensive, comparitively and would definitely improve the look of the entire bathroom. I hate the dark brown.

I just googled an article for colors to brighten dark sapces-- and it mentioned BM Spring Rain. I am trying to post the pic from BM's web site-- but my connection is mad slow right now.
Ok, here's the pic with the color... thoughts?

check out this like
It's BM Gossamer Blue. Gorgeous color.
I don't think you would even have to change the vanity at all. You can get some blue & white towels and put them in a white basket on the vanity and maybe a vase or two if there is room on top. The paint would be the cheapest way to go right now until you can redo the whole bathroom.
I love blue/brown/beige together. I really think you can make it work this way without spending too much money.
HTH! GL!

Re: WHat color would you paint this bathroom to brighten it up?
any ideas for sprucing up the mirror?
I have seen on design shows, they put like an empty frame over the mirror so it's not like a WALL of mirror. Hung with double stick tape and velcro.
Anyone do anything like that?

I haven't done it, but you could just buy flat wood and glue the wood right to the mirror probably. Just ask at Lowe's or HD what is the right type of glue to use. It would frame out the mirror. I love how it changes the look of the room & mirror. You could paint the frame white to keep things light.

I think I am gonna try it when I get around to it... I wouldn't glue it because that's too permanent. With double stick tape I can at least use Goo Off to get the sticky stuff off if we don't like it.
I can paint the frame the same color as the trim-- which will be a white.
Thanks for the help... we'll have to wait another 2 months or so to see how it turns out!

double sided tape works too. go for it. def. the same color as the trim.
