What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
DH and I want to take a babymoon this summer. I figure a cruise is best since I can eat as much as I want and not feel like I am getting ripped off by paying for alcohol when I won't drink. What I mean is, I LOVE all inclusives. Since I won't be drinking, I feel that is a wasted expense. I am not really crazy about flying anyway soI think a cruise out of NYC will be best. Which cruise do you recommend. I don't even care where it is to!

We are going on Norweigan to Bermuda in July out of New York. I don't have a review yet, obviously, but that is one cruise line that leaves out of NY.

We took Royal Carribean out of NY to Bermuda. We had a great time in bermuda and on the cruise (although the boat was small and kind of old). Only thing is leaving from NY is usually very choppy since its the ocean so the whole boat was terribly seasick for the first couple of days.

Royal does cruises out o fBayonne to the caribbean, particulary great since they are new ships, apparently anyhting you travel out the NY area the atlantic is rough no matter what time of year it iis. I havent done one out of NY yet, I love to go to mia and spend a few days fist, but defaintly aim for one of the newershps especually if your preggo, I am sure that will add to motion sickness. Definatly take seabands with you no matter what

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
Felice, we took Royal Caribbean out of Bayonne for our honeymoon (it was July) and we lovvvvvvved it..
It was the 10day cruise on Voyager of the Seas to the Caribbean.. Jamaica, Bahamas, their private island (Haiti - it was gorgeous!) and Grand Cayman..
I loved the cruiseline and the ship, though in retrospect I would have picked a diff. itinerary w/diff ports of call.. wasn't crazy about Nassau and Jamaica in particular..
I don't have a problem w/sea sickness but since you are PG, you might want to think about some seabands -- since yes, the water does tend to be a bit choppy leaving out of NY/NJ..
My parents have taken TONS of cruises out of NY.. their favorites were Norweigan Dawn and Celebrity to Bermuda..
Good luck! Happy Planning

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
Princess has a brand new ship the Crown Princess that will start sailing this summer from Red Hook (Brooklyn) we are going on it in Nov. when it sails from San Juan. There are four pools - two adult only and two family pools, one which has a huge 300 ft movie screen that shows movies all day and at night they put out blankets and serve popcorn etc like a drive in. There is plenty of nightlife - comedians, shows, etc. It is a huge boat that carries about 3000 passengers. We were on the sister ship the Carribean Princess in August and had a great time.

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
There are two Crown Sailings in June - June 14 (Western Caribbean - First sailing) , and June 23 (Eastern Caribbean cruise.
Bestpricecruises.com
We usually book with these people as they seem to have the best prices - It is a very rare occasion that I find anyone who can beat their prices.
I do spend a few extra dollars and call and book with on the phone rather than online. They often have coupon books, ship board credits. If you think you want to book with them I can tell you who I speak to over there.
We would LOVE to do the ones out of NYC but that time frame didn't work with our schedule so we have to wait until Thanksgiving to sail on the Crown!

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
We have taken both a Royal Caribbean Cruise and a Celebrity Cruise out of NJ. Both were awesome, but for total pampering, the Celebrity cruise rocked!!!

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
I have to agree with Karen - that Celebrity rocks! I have taken 11 cruises with them (we are elite captains club). The only thing reason I didn't recommend them was that the only ship they have sailing from NY in June is the Zenith to Bermuda. The Zenith is their oldest boat.
I have not sailed on on RCCL so I don't have any comments on them.
Interesting we did not note much of a difference between Celebirty and Princess on out last cruise.

Re: What cruise line for a cruise out of NYC?
We just booked our cruise out of NYC for May! I'm so excited!!
We booked Carnival 8 day going to San Juan, St. Thomas, and Tortola.
This will be my first cruise, my husband's second.
We also investigated the Norwegian, but felt Celebrity was more for the money.
Good luck!
