Trying to decide what to do for my DD's 2nd birthday. She's a winter baby or I'd just do a BBQ. We don't really have the room for something at the house and I think 2 year olds are too young for a gym type place. Any ideas? Suggestions?

Same here. John's birthday is the 19th and his baby sister will be arriving 2 weeks before. So I will do a theme but just have my parents and God-parents over. Not having a big party like his 1st was.

I didn't do anything Chat Icon

We had a cake for her at my nephew's birthday party since their birthdays are 2 days apart...but I didn't invite anyone that wasn't already coming to his party. She's 2...she doesn't know the difference Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: What did you do for your 2 year old birthday party?

we just moved in on 8/22, Lily's bday is 11/10. I have been debating this party for a few days now. she only has 5 little friends right now. I'm thinking I'll have something small at the house - pizza & cake, mickey mouse decorations, and favors. We'll see... Maybe we'll invite our neighbors too. I want to decide by 10/9 so I can do some simple invites. I feel i HAVE to do something since we only took her to the original Morton's Steakhouse for her first bday. Chat Icon Mommy & Daddy loved it! Chat Icon

ETA: if I had more kids to invite, I'd do My Gym. I've heard great things about their parties.

We did it at Mid Island gymnastics, was awesome!

I think 2 is the perfect age for a gym party or any other type of place...Once upon a treetop, Pump It up, etc...

I had a pool party - but that doesn't really help you.

Next year, I'm having a Hoedown for her birthday. I'm going to have a petting zoo come to the house.

Since we don't know many people in our area yet, we had mostly just family over for Charlie's 2nd Birthday last weekend. I just did salads, and lasagna and ordered a couple of 3 foot heros. We had a Cars theme but didn't go overboard.

Re: What did you do for your 2 year old birthday party?

I had Andrew's 2nd birthday party at home (February) and had a Barney theme and the character come -- 'he' did face painting, tattoos, etc.

My personal opinion is to keep it simple for the first few years. For Andrew's 3rd birthday I had it out at an ice cream shop and I can just see them getting bigger and more out of hand as the years progress!

His pre-K class has 18 kids and I am already stressing about his next party. So my advice is to keep it small and low-key while you can!

Re: What did you do for your 2 year old birthday party?

I'm having Luca's party next weekend with a pirate theme. I will have a jump house (borrowed from a friend), do a treasure hunt (tattoos, stickers, eye patches, candy, stuffed pirates, etc...), and a message in a bottle- sand art project. It will be for just kids for 3 hours and I'll serve pizza and cake. We're keeping it very simple.
