several people in our families have gone through cancer.. so we donated to the lance armstrong cancer foundation... we gave each guest a yellow " Livestrong" bracelet and a little tin of mints all wth a tag explaining the donation. we got a lot of compliments on how nice it was.. .and a few of our guests still wear the bracelets even 2 years later!

We were going to give Lenox package ties (which is what Shorty also did) and were going to hang them on trees for people to take!

We did photo a set og photo coasters for the adults along with a small organza bag with candy in it. We gave the kids boxes with a card game, activity book, place mat and candy. The girls also got lipgloss & bride and groom tissues and the lone boy got two models.

i don't like favors. i throw them all out.
so at my wedding i knew i didn't want them. i wound up doing a donation to the american cancer society in memory of my grandparents and DH's aunts who all died of cancer. people were very touched and thanked me for doing it and not a regular favor

Donated to American Heart Association and American Cancer Society to honor the memory of both fathers....3 Lindt truffles in an organza bag with a tag attached explaining the donation...

we had a seperate photographer who took pictures of everyone and put it in a cute little clear plastic frame that said Pauline & George's wedding with the date on it.
Everyone got to go home with a framed pic of themselves. It was a big hit!

We gave pumpkin shaped candles and candy corn (Halloween wedding).

Our caterer broke down our centerpieces and gave everyone a bouquet of flowers as they left.
In addition we had a bakery-to-go where everyone got a bag and was able to take home whatever type of baked goods they wanted ex. bagels, danish, donuts, hot pretzels etc etc.
It was a huge hit!

We spent way too much on favors. We did a donation favor + wine.
Every couple (or single if they came alone) got a full bottle of Pindar Pythagoras wine with 2 charity bracelets. The bracelets stood for the two causes to which we donated (breast cancer research and prostate cancer research). We had a sign stating that we made a donation in honor of our guests and explaining the bracelets. 
ETA - I too hate the vast majority of favors I've ever received... I throw most of them out if I even remember to take them with me at the end of the night. I much prefer a donation to a good cause or an edible favor.

Made a donation to The Don Monti Memorial Research Foundation at North Shore University Hospital my brother spent many weeks in this wing of NS.
I also made up little organza bags with 3 Lindt Truffles in them to attach the card to.
