What do I do, there is an injured cat in my backyard?
I am in my office and I hear this awful whining crying. I look out and can't find anything. But now I just saw this cat hobble by in my backyard on 3 legs. One of his legs is hurt and he isn't walking on it. He is in pain. Is there someone I can call?

I would call animal control, they should be able to get the cat some help. How nice of you to be concerned

This happened to me once. We took the cat to the vet who treated it at no cost. We took it home and nursed it back to health. We put up posters but no one claimed her. We adopted her out after a few weeks.

Well that cannot happen here, my DH is deathly allergic. I went outside, but I cannot find the cat anymore. I will keep checking and looking out for him. Hopefully it has a tag or something.

So I called the police dept to see what I should do, they told me to call the town, who told me to call the Animal Shelter. They said that they can send someone, but they don't have a vet on staff and rather then let it suffer they would put it down. ARGH!!! So now I am off to see if it belongs to any of my neighbors.

if you can trap the cat let me know asap !!! i can get it the help it needs and a vet to take care of it!!!!!

I am in the Town of Hempstead, Levittown. I haven't called Animal Shelter, because I don't want them to put it down. But now I can't find the cat. I am going to go ask some neighbors. I will keep you all posted

call me when you can, just listen for it, it is hurt and scared so it will hide. try to put a can of tuna out by the spot you saw the cat, she/me might try to come back... call me if you need help

Yeah the municipal shelter there will most likely euthanize.
See if there is not someone at PetSmart that can offer some help. They work very closely with a local rescue and might have some good information for you.

I was outside for almost an hour. My husbands cousin came over. Can't find it anywhere, we both searched. Maybe the cat went home. I hope it is ok. If I see it again, I will let you know.
