What do you all do if you're child is afraid of Santa?

Still take them for pics? Skip the torture? Any techniques/suggestions for getting them over it? TIA!

I took them, warned the photographer ahead of time that Sarah may cry and to just take the pic anyway. Andy usually ignores her reaction but not this time.

I figured that seeing Santa is a rite of passage, and this is how they felt at the moment. I wanted to preserve it anyway.

Some tips to try:

I would show her Santa & talk to her saying look it's Santa & be excited. She might feed from your excitement & get to want to see him to.

It might helo if you sit next to her & Santa. Ask if they can cut you out of the photo. Or bring the hubby & make it a family pic.

If she is terrified. I might just skip it.

Have DH dress up as Santa..... Chat Icon

DD was a little confused at first.... Why does this strange looking man sound like Daddy? Once she figured out it was me, she was fine.

I anticipate this will be Roman although we've passed Santa numerous times in the mall and he always goes "WOW Santa." When the time comes I'm sure he'll freak out. I still plan on taking them. I figured it would make for a good story.

We do it anyway but last year DH sat with her so she was less scared. We're going with her baby cousin this year so I'm hoping maybe she'll be better about if he goes first and doesn't cry since he doesn't know any better.

Kaitee was young last year so she didn't care. But Santa had me hand her to him with her back facing him so she didn't notice who was holding her till after the picture was taken. I can only imagine how she will act this yearChat Icon

that's what we did last year so it worked, but this year my Dad walked her right up to Santa and shook his hand and made conversation and Ellie freaked and the Grandparents were too nice, they just walked away. I was like wait what about my picture. I would've left her there for a second so now I have to go back and do it again if I want a photo Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I decided not to torture her! We went, she said hi but was afraid and did not want to go to him so we didn't make her.

Last year was easy because she was so little. I'm skipping Santa this year because I know she'll freak.
