What do you all think about this house?
Rooms look on the smaller size, huge lot, yard looks nice. We drove past and the other houses on this block are very nice. For the price we afford to do a LOT of work to it, or save and add on at a later price.
kitchen/bath are not bad...
We would want to turn the basement into a full apt.
Taxes are LOW.
its 3 bedrooms...1 bth though.
West Babylon
What would you expect to pay just looking at it??

We loked at a house like that... a long ranch with the short side at front. The layout of that particular house was very weird and didn't flow right. I'm not sure if this house is layed out the same way, it is hard to tell from the pictures, but when you go to see it is person you can see that. It looks pretty nice from the pictures! Looks like it may just need some paint, some new cabinet handles, small stuff like that. I am just thinking about my house covereed in wood paneling and replacing all the sheet rock...  Compared this house looks in good shape. The property looks like a decent size... maybe a new fence for privacy though.
What is upstairs? Is that a tiny bedroom? or just an attic window?
If you are seriously interested have someone check out where the plumbing is to see how easy/hard it will be to add another bathroom. For the future you can do a second floor or expand to the right.
I saw it on MLSLI.com so I already know the price... I think that is a great deal.. although I am not familiar with the area.

the taxes are great. I think the area is nice and the basement adds to the potential. I do know that there was a $292,000 offer put in for this house, but something went wrong...so I too get nervous, as the price is negotiable somewhat but WHY?
The bedrooms are small, but we could easily put 100K-200K into the house ( at a LATER point ) and really make it nice, I love the porperty!

Your family is in construction, right? Bring them with you to check it out if you are worried about it being too good to be true.
Another question.. what school district is it? There is not one listed.

I "think " its in West babylon which is good. I would not want North Babylon school district. Some family members went there and its not that great of a school, they have no major motivation to change the school either.

It is very cute and looks like there is lots of potential.
The one bath thing wouldn't bug me, down the line you can always tack on a half or full bath.

this was what i was thinking too!
Donna....do you know the w. babylon area..?
If click on the "map it" you can do a drive by yourself and see the neighborhood!!!

We looked at that house. It is in N. Babylon SD & is close to the Wyndanch border.
It has been on the market since we started looking in December, and they have had a bunch of offers fall through
