what do you do.....
To keep your twins entertained during the day when they ARE awake.
I put them on their playmat..which Matthew LOVES, he always smiles when he is on it. I dont know what else to do, because I still feel they sleep a lot when they are NOT eating, or crying

Re: what do you do.....
i was also going to ask, how do you deal with them when they are both crying/hungry at the same time? I am no good at propping. The bottle always falls out of their mouth and when i try to hold both bottles in at the same time, someone always winds up with the nipple on their cheek. This is my first week alone with them and i'm having a really hard time. I find myself making a big bottle, having them both on the couch w/ me, and then moving the bottle from mouth to mouth bc they are both hysterical. I know this is no good bc of germs and i cant keep track of who ate how much and when but i dont know what else to do at this point. how do you all do it?
i also feel really bad bc i am not able to entertain them :( james loves the activity mat but i cant ever lay kelly down bc of her acid refux.

It is VERY hard to feed both at the same time when Im alone. I usually hold one and put the other in a bouncy seat or the boppy and feed them that way. I finally tried the Podee bottle and LOVED it and then HATED it. I liked it because my hands werent tied up with both bottles but then when Christopher got tired the nipple would fall out and he would cry. Also when it came down to the end of the bottle, you have to make sure it is sitting up or else it falls over and he cant get any milk, but it did have more pros.

Re: what do you do.....
I prop both of them sideways on their boppys and then prop the bottles with a comforter blanket. Works like a charm. THey both suck on the bottles like pacifiers and then i burp them. It has been a lifesaver at night.
My boys are into cartoons now..so that entertains them. OTher then that..some tummy time.

Re: what do you do.....
Tummy time, I would read books to them, play with their mobile and put them in their bouncy seat and play wiht the toys with them.
To feed them both I would put them each in thier bouncey seats and sit on the floor and hold both bottles.

I agree COMPLETEly about the Podee... I thought it was genius, but the babies ended up having more formula running down their necks than in their mouths. I tried them early on, perhaps too early, because they usually weren't able to keep the nipple in their mouth. I think that I might try it again when they are a few months older and not need burping as often. My favorite thing of late is the bottle prop! I bought them at BBB right beneath the pacifier area. When I am feeding the babies using the boppies, my problem was that one of them would need a burp and I woul have to stop both, causing them to lose momentum. With the bottle prop, the other baby can continue feeding while I work with his brother. Again, not a perfect method, but it works well enough for us.
In terms of entertainment... I read to them, play the Einstein videos w/ the music, tummy time, and their swings. There isn't too much more you can do with them at this age, is there?

DH is a lot better at feeding both at the same time. He uses the bouncy seats and feeds the two of them. I use the boppy pillow and sit the both of them in one pillow...but I feel like I should be "bonding" with them at feedings, so I prefer to feed one at a time. I am starting to realize that what I expected to do as a mom has to change now that I have two babies. I have to stop feeling guilty about everything!
I am waiting for BBB to call me when this comes in. I think it might help a great deal. Keep It Up Bottle Holder by Leachco Keeps bottle from tipping and leaking Ideal for hands-free "snuggle me close" feeding time Expandable opening fits most bottles Cushy grip for little hands A must for multiples $8.99

Re: what do you do.....
When you feed the babies try putting them in the in the seats that they can sit up or lay down and put a pillow under the bottle..it works like a charm to feed them both. They also sell round pillows with holes in it that you can put the bottle through.
What to do with the babies? you can put them in the swing, put on einstein videos they love that and it stimulates them. The Saucer is great too

Stacey - I just bought the props the other day, literally, from the store in Huntington... they might have them by now.

I do... very much. They are most helpful during the beginning of the feeding b/c they babies have more suction and keep it upright. Does that make sense? Either way, any little bit helps

Re: what do you do.....
is the bottle prop the same as the keep it up thing? i just want to know if i should be looking for 2 different things tomorrow.
i had the same problem w/ the podee. he'd get some, then the nipple would fall out of his mouth and it was hard to get it going again and mommy wound up w/ a few mouthfuls of alimentum - yuck!

Yes, the keep it up thing is the same as a bottle prop. Have fun at BBB!

Re: what do you do.....
THose are the things I have too! I ordered them from BBB.
And please Crismicka...don't feel guilty about not holding your babies when feeding them. I was in the same boat as you and decided i wanted to feed them seperately as well and then i realized that to get more sleep at night that i needed to do this. The boys don't seem to mind at all.
I have a picture of it..let me see if i can find it. Image Attachment(s):

Hm, I wonder if that's better than the KEEP IT UPS... if anyone gets them, let us know the verdict!
