What do you do to prevent your toddler from scraping up their knees outside?
Anyone have any suggestions, other than pants? Do you do something to prevent their poor knees getting all scraped up from falls or do you just let it happen?

There is nothing to do but let it happen. Jack doesn't even flinch now when it does.

Kidding! Nothing you can do. We've all been there. I think I still have scars on my knees from when I was a kid.
Lots of mommy kisses when it happens, bandaids, creams, etc
BTW... not there yet, but it's coming and my poor kid is going to be a clutz like his mommy

You can't do anything to prevent it 100%. Obviously you watch them, so hopefully they don't get too hurt. I let my daughter be a kid. She has so many scrapes and bruises on her legs but she is happy.

I try to put Kaydyn in capris as much as possible, but she still manages to get scraped up. It really doesn't even bother her anymore when she falls for the most part.

I was thinking of using those knee thingies they sell in BRU by the safety isle, for when DD is in the yard. I can't see this kid scraping her knees up everyday!!!

Same here. When DD was first learning how to walk I would keep her in capris outside. Now, I just let her have at it.

Honestly, I would not do that. There are so many worse things then a few scrapes and bruises. Wait till she starts going to the park and climbing on top of everything...it's heartattack city.
The only thing you can do is watch her, if she falls give her a kiss to make it feel better.

She barely gets upset and neither do I. I just hate to see those cute knees all scraped up, that's all. 
I guess you are right. Just let it happen.

DS surprisingly has not yet fallen on the sidewalk.
He mostly runs around at the playground and it has a soft cushion floor.

AJ wears pants.. even in Texas heat. Worse, I'll even tuck them into her socks since she has a bad issue with getting bit and then scratching her skin off! 
Otherwise.. I just let her go. She's scraped herself so badly its insane. She never cries. Just bleeds. haha

So nice to see this thread. The reason I'm on is that we had to come inside after Mads scraped up both palms and knees from running. She scraped up both elbows yesterday.
DH is dealing with the clean-up.
There is nothing to prevent the scraping. I used to dress Mads in only capris hoping to help, but it only made her hot and cranky.
