What do you do when the Colace doesn't work?
tmi, I guess, but I'm up to taking a Colace a day but some days nothing happens at all  Sometimes I'm in pain as a result. I am upping my fiber and water (as much as I can!!) but what else can i do? Is there any other type of med or stronger med that I can take? Should I take more than 1 a day? (the dose says up to 3 I think). I'm worried that the pain from the contractions will be even worse because my back is already in pain. Plus not going for a few days is obviously unhealthy  TIA.

i use milk of magnesia. it's totally safe (per my doctor) bc its just magnesium.
i was specifically told NOT to use miralax bc its all chemicals.

Are you taking 50mg or 100? Maybe if you are only taking 50 you can call and ask the Dr if you can do 100?
I was taking 100 a day for a few days in a row beofer it started to work
What about the metamucil that you put in the water or they also sell like wafer bars I think

Um, i think it is 100 but I can check.
I totally forgot about Metamucil, we have some of that so I'll try it first then go to milk of magnesia if it doesn't work. I really hope things go back to normal after this guy is born

Be careful with adding the extra fiber and taking colace...all that did for me was make me painfully gassy.

Too much fiber can make it worse! Ask the ob if you can increase the amount of colace per day.

I was so bad 2 weeks ago that I called the dr and they told me I could use Dulcolax suppositories. Not something to take everyday, but just to use to get the blockage out

Im not a big fan of taking pills so i dont know about the Colace but here is whats been working for me:
At least 3 fruits/veggies per day
PLUS 5 prunes at night before bed
and a roll with at least 2 tbsp butter (tmi - it lubricates the colon)
feel better
