Today I had Brendan in his crib for a nap and I heard a loud thump and then crying. I ran to his room and sure enough there he was standing at the door. I've seen him trying to put his foot up on the top rail, but this was the first time he was ever successful at escaping! We have a convertible crib that I can turn into a daybed. Is it time to move on to the daybed? I'm just afraid of him getting hurt.

How old is he? Well it depends if he is ready for a toddler bed...but now that he hurt himself he probably won't do it again for a while. He had to try it to see what would happen.

He's 18 months old. I think I'll wait and see if this becomes a consistent thing before I do anything.

I would wait and see. I remember when dd did that and fell hard on the floor. I thought the same thing but she did not do it again until she was REALLY ready to climb out without getting hurt Chat Icon Chat Icon

We used those tent things. He stayed in his crib until almost 3. He was our last and we were in no rush, but this was about 6 years ago.
