What do you do with money DC receives as a gift?
In my family, the money is always put in a savings account that we would use for college. Some people I know use gift money to put their kids in activities such as sports. Just wondering what everyone does?

I put her small amounts in her bank account until they add up a bit and then I deposit it to her 529.

deposited to her 529 plan. When she gets older I can using some of her gift money for special things/activities she wants, but for now, it all gets saved for college.

Usually their college fund.
As they have gotten older, they are allowed to spend some and save the rest for college.

What's 529?
A 529 plan is a variation of a savings account. A 529 plan is a tax-free savings account.

I guess I'm the only one who throws caution to the wind and buys her toys with the money she gets as gifts. That being said, it's not like she's getting tons of monetary gifts.

Savings but I did use DD's Christmas gifts to get her convertible carseat and I felt guilty even though the gift givers insisted on me buying something.

I put it in a savings account but I have been meaning to put it into a CD.
I know a college fund is a good idea but DH and I have differing opinions on this.

It goes in her savings account. That's what my parents did with mine. I got that money as well as all of my savings bonds that they were keeping for me all these years when DH and I bought our house. It was a ton of money and I am so glad my parents did that for me.
