What do you do with your baby all day?
Alex is 6.5 months old and I feel as if we do the same things everyday. We read a few books, he plays with his toys or goes in his exersaucer. Once a week we go to Gymboree. I feel like I should be doing more activities with him but I just don't know what.
I have a few Baby Einstein and two large books filled with stories and nursery rhymes.
What books are you reading to your babies? What games do you play?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. TIA!!!!

Remember, everything is brand new to him. He learns plenty just by holding a toy. Getting out of the house is more for your benefit, so do more if you would enjoy it!
The books my daughter (Same age as Alex) likes best are the ones she can chew on. She is rather indifferent to content.

I know but sometimes I feel like I am not teaching him enough The pressures of being a parent. We do a lot of what body part is this, what color/shape, number etc. I guess I need a little reassurance that I am doing right by my son.

Re: What do you do with your baby all day?
Sounds to me like you have a very lucky little boy!! So much of learning right now is on autopilot. As long as you keep him safe, give him interesting objects to handle, and talk with/at/to him, he is getting everything he needs. Seeing new surroundings is also good stimulation, but it doesn't have to be a class -- do what is fun for both of you and he will be fine!!
If it comforts you any, at this age your baby will fuss if he is bored. So, if he's playing happy, then he is being challenged and learning...

Re: What do you do with your baby all day?
I try to do a lot of outside activities while the weather is nice. Every Tuesday, we go to Mommy and Me class where we play and sing songs. Every Thursday, we do mommy and me yoga and on Fridays, I have a standing date with Jen (who I met on this site) and her daughter and/or hit the library for free mommy and me storytime for pre-walkers. On Saturday and Sunday, its Cari and daddy day so we all go to local festivals or something and spend time as a family.
The other times I hold her a lot and sing to her, walk her outside, and hold some toys out where she can see them. I try to change the scenery a lot in the house and have different mobiles out. She seems to like that. Tried the bouncer and swing and she is not a fan. GO figure.

Re: What do you do with your baby all day?
I'm already worried about what I can do with my newborn when she's awake! We talk to her a lot, and sing silly made-up songs, and I kiss and "chomp" on her feet and hands and give her kisses and stuff. We tried reading a book but after 3 pages she cried, lol. We've also taken 2 walks. The first one she was wide awake and looking all over!! The second one she completely slept through

I worry too. At what age did you moms have a routine with your baby? Her mood is so different every day I feel like I can't plan stuff yet.

Re: What do you do with your baby all day?
On the wekends, I try to get her out as much as possible. We walk every night, I let her watch Baby Einstein and Sesame Street. SHe uses a walker and a Jumperoo, She plays with all of her toys while in her crib. I sing songs to her, and use the LEAPPAD (that doesn't last too long though). I usually lay her on the floor while I fold clothes and tell her what each is and it's color (she doesn't care what I do as long as I am talking to her...)
