What do you say to someone
who CONSTANTLY complains about their job and you don't have one?
I just say oh really and let it go, but it is REALLY annoying the crap out of me.

Re: What do you say to someone
It's one thing to vent once in a while but if someone was doing it constantly I would say "be grateful you have a job" or "I wish I had one to complain about" or "get a new job so you don't have to be so miserable".

Re: What do you say to someone
Depends on my mood-lol!! as I have almost freaked out on a co-worker. My dh is still looking for a stable, fulltime job and she was complaining about such and such.

Re: What do you say to someone
It can be annoying, but to be honest, if you do have a job, IMO, you do have the right to vent from time to time. There are lots of people out there who just have to work "wherever" in order to live, and it can be annoying too when people who don't have a job feel personally attacked if someone else is complaining.
There's also stuff I run across in my field in general that I feel I should have the right to complain and vent about. I choose who to do it with wisely, however.
As far as someone who is just a chronic complainer about work in general-----I echo that can be quite unneccesary. To EVERYONE. Not just the unemployed and looking.

Re: What do you say to someone
Been there- well sort of- Dh was out of work last year for about 6 months and I have a friend that complains daily about her job.
I just tried to separate the 2 situations to be honest- because I am pretty sure that if my dh had had a job at the time, I would have been more sympathetic to her- so I tried to do that- because it genuinely sucks waking up to do a job you hate- maybe not as much as not having a job but still.

If it was enjoyable it wouldn't be called work!!! This is my go to quote.
“Oh, you hate your job? Why didn't you say so? There's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY, and they meet at the bar.” - Drew Carey

Re: What do you say to someone
I would definitely say be greatful that you are employed considering there are so many who aren't.
I know some people who complain about work; they never want to go, they never want to be there....THEN they complain about not having money to do anything. Hello?! If you don't work you will have LESS money!!

Re: What do you say to someone
I would say the last thing - look for a new job so you don't have to be miserable. i would also say how you wish you had a job to complain about. that it's really tough out there and to make the most of what she has right now b/c yes, while you can complain about your work if you have a job, many others are struggling to find ANY job.
