What do you think?
This was the first year that Emily invited boys to her birthday party. It always has been just her girlfriends. This year she invited 3 boys who she has gotten to know well through school. All of the boys know eachother also, so we figured that if they weren't crazy about hanging out with the girls at the party, they could stick together.
Well, 2 of them have RSVP'd that they couldn't make it. The other Mom called this morning and her son can make it and she said he is really looking forward to it. They spent a lot of time together over the summer swimming together at the town pool, and they do get along very well.
I just feel bad that he is the only boy coming to the party. Even all of Emily's cousins are girls.
Do I tell the Mom that he is the only boy? Do I ask her if she'd like to bring his brother who is a year or so younger then him?
Or will it just be fine and I'm overthinking it?

Inviting his brother is a nice gesture...you do not have to say why.

Re: What do you think?
My son was the only boy at a gymnastics party in 1st grade. I wanted to take him home because I was afraid he would feel self conscious, but he had the best time. At that age I don't think they care much about the biy/girl thing as long as there is fun to be had.

Re: What do you think?
Does the boy know any of the girls? My DD only invited one boy to her birthday party but they have been friends since they are babies. I am good friends with the mom and told her but she didn't care. However, this boy is friends with some of the girls coming as well.

Re: What do you think?
I would tell the mom just because I would hate to make the boy feel uncomfortable and then she can make the call but I would imagine the boy will be fine with it and have a good time.

I would invite the brother & let the mom know that he's the only boy but we'd still love for him to come.

Re: What do you think?
I would mention to the mom and inviting the brother would be a nice gesture. I know recently my friend's son was the only boy from the class who wound up coming to a party and he was very upset and uncomfortable.

Re: What do you think?
Thank you everyone! I saw the Mom at the Library today (we always run into eachother there!) and spoke with her about the situation. She said she was planning on bringing her son there anyway and paying for him since both of her kids love it there. I told her not to worry, that I will take care of his admission since I want to make sure that the invited son felt comfortable at a party full of girls! She said he'd have probably loved the attention anyway!
So all is settled! Thanks for all of your input ladies!
