What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
Has anyone done this or plans on doing this??
I'm going to the Dr. on the 31st so I will ask her then, but just curious what others have done.
Thanks.

I think you have to travel before 24 weeks though ... just make sure to double check with the cruiseline . Have fun!

Re: What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
We just came back from a 10-day Mediterranean cruise which required a lot of air travel (8 hrs to Barcelona and 11 hours from Greece) and I was fine. I was around 18 weeks when we left and around 20 weeks when we returned and I was fine. I tired easily on the excursions but other than that I had no complaints. Enjoy the delicious cruise food!

Re: What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
We had one booked, but I was going to be very close to my 3rd by the time it came around. FOR ME... I was a bit nervous to be out on the boat, in the middle of the ocean, visiting not so "up to date" countires. In my head I kept thinking, "what if something happens".
NOW... of course nothing did, everyone had a great cruise and we will forever kick ourselves for not going... but... at that time, for ourselves, we just wanted to stay "on land".
Do what YOU feel comfortable doing. No one can tell you otherwise! If you go, have a BLAST and get some sun and fun!!

I am going to AZ for 10 days and will be almost 6 months. My dr was fine with it. I say go for it. You need to take time for yourselves before the baby comes!

Re: What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
I would love to go on a cruise right this minute. But I have pretty bad morning sickness and I also get seasick. I'd be afraid of that combo. I use those behind the ear patches when I am on a cruise. I do not think I could use that pregnant as it secretes a medication. If not for how I feel, I would go.
Incidentally, I read one article that said that people who are prone to motion sickness may be more prone to morning sickness. It was true in my case.

Check with the cruise line, most of them will not take pregnant women after certain weeks.

Re: What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
I love cruises anytime!!
But you might want to consider how you may feel....good hopefully. I chose not to cruise during pregnancy, cause if I'm going to pay for it I want it all, including a pina colada by the pool and a catarmaran tour. Not a big drinker, but on vacation I like to splurge and I am very adventurous. I am planning a cruise for when baby is over nine months. Of course if I had the opportunity to be on one I would probably take it! Enjoy.

Re: What do you think about taking a cruise in the second trimester??
I think it sounds perfect - but I would check with your OB first. Keep in mind that many cruiselines have a week cut off - I think it is around 26 weeks.
You should be feeling good by the 2nd trimester so you should have a great time. DH and I went on a cruise at 9-10 weeks and had a blast. They have fabulous virgin frozen drinks. Just keep in mind that you burn easier when you are pregnant
