What do you think of Mexico's plan to distribute maps of Arizona to migrants?
What are your thoughts on this?
I certainly don't think that it helps the US efforts to control its borders, maybe instead of helping them to succcessfully sneak into our country, the Mexican Govt should direct attention to ways on helping their own people to want to stay in the first place and not risk life and limb to get over here.

I really don't care what they do. I understand they are trying to save lives
BUT i think that knowing this OUR country should have people waiting at said check points and water tanks should have officials there to take these people back from where they came from...

That is sooo ridiculous, the money and effort could be better spent on keeping them from going across the border illegally!

I agree- on the one hand I don't think we should make it easy for people to come here illegally but we should also be humane.
Mexico would better serve its people trying to make life better there.

Re: What do you think of Mexico's plan to distribute maps of Arizona to migrants?
What is the point of handing out maps...That is silly to me. I guess should read the article. I came to this copuntry when I was only 5 and I'm now 26 with my mom and little brother & my dad. We did things the legal way because it was available to us. We have grown up here in the U.S. all became US Citizens, pay taxes, vote and live the "American Dream" whatever that is. I think things are so out of hand that something MUST be done. Again our government leaders chose to brush off this topic and bring it up only during the major elections. We need to vote, bring this up to our local leaders and let them know it affects all of us. Will this help or deter or entice people to come in...not in my opinion. People come here, have come here before and keep coming in search of something better, if it can be considered better.

You make some good points and one of the things that frustrates me about illegal immigration is that it's really unfair to the people who do come here through proper channels.
Unfortunately, at the local level, there is not a lot to be done, other than alerting them to the issue (and let's face it, they do know). It is up to the federal government to enforce immigration issues.
There is a big issue in my current town because of illegal day laborers. A few months ago one was found passed out drunk, leaning up against one of the elementary school buildings, when the kids were being dismissed. People (especially those with school kids) are really hollering at our local reps but it has been pointed out that the Feds are the ones who have to deal with it. Plenty of legal immigrants have set up small businesses in our town and have been successful, so it can be done.

I can totally relate. As a parent I would have been upset & pi$$ed that any guy was there drunk & passed out. Do I think Illegal Immigration is ok...Of course not. But a major issue is as you may or may not know Perdue was found guilty of hiring illegal immigrants. So was Wal-Mart...why because they pay these people crappy salaries & they make out like bandits. To me it's a chain...The BIG companies hire these illegals, they in turn tell their families abroad, new people come here to work illegaly and it goes on and on. Why the major companies do this? Because it is conveninent for them to do so. I can relate to both sides because as a Latina it affects me directly because we all know that most of them are Latinos.

Re: What do you think of Mexico's plan to distribute maps of Arizona to migrants?
It's totally a chain- people in my town HATE Wal-Mart, though their labor practices are terrible in general. I will never shop there. They did express interest in building up where I live, but I think the residents are totally against it.
I didn't know the big companies hired illegals. The irony about my town is that people ***** about the day laborers but think nothing about hiring them when they need stuff done.

I agree.....But i do think that it is a problem that OUR country needs to address more aggressively...
I mean we KNOW they are handing out these maps....WE KNOW where they are being directed....
I feel like they are making it EASIER for our country to get these illegal immigrants and return them back....

This is so my point. Like I said I can so relate to what these people are going thorugh we started from ZERO, but it's way out of control. Things have gotten so out of hand. People have preoblems w/ so many illegals working here then DON'T hire them Many feel that people take jobs away from the "American" people. Truth is large companies hire these people purposely. It's horrible & IMO disgusting. It's more than the day laborers, way more than that.

Was the "disturbing" part here that the man was an illegal immigrant or that he was drunk leaning up against a school? For me I wouldn't want any person, illegal or not anywhere near my sons school while intoxicated! I also have a huge problem with the bums that recently set up a livingroom, diningroom, & den upside my buiding on 5th avenue! I cannot believe how many people pass as if they don't notice. I have tried calling every agency I can think of to get these ppl help, but nothing
As for handing out the maps..its silly. I have nothing against immigrants, most are hard working & law abiding. We should be more concerned with all the OUTSOURCING American companies are doing !!! Soon we'll have to go to India or China for a job.

Well said on both accounts. I wouldn't care if a drunk person passed outside my kids school was an illegal immigrant or Donald Trump. That behavior is wrong.
I also completely agree with your comment on outsourcing!!

Re: What do you think of Mexico's plan to distribute maps of Arizona to migrants?
The day laborers have been in my town for a few years- I live in Putnam county- and when we moved here I was surprised to not see mentions in the media, that the people were mostly accepting of it. But the incident with the drunk man has blown it open again- now it's a big topic of conversation again. I think it was more that he was intoxicated than anything else, and it was in the middle of the day.
A shelter is being built in the town for them, so they don't have to hang out in the streets.
