What do you think of this for a birthday or Christmas present for your DC
John will be 2 December 19th and I thought maybe to get him as one of his presents a subscription to Highlights Five for the year. Does anyone think this is a corny idea? I just thought maybe we can start teaching him things and it's never too lat eto start early.

I think it's a great idea!! My son is selling magazine subscriptions for a fundraiser so I plan on ordering a few as gifts for him and other people.

My uncle got my DS this last Christmas (he's now 3) and so far he doesnt have much interest in it, but my uncle renewed the subscription , so I've been saving them up for him-I think it depends on the child, my DS is very active, not a big "sit down " kid...he does like the Noggin magazine subsription I get though- I think because he can relate to the characters more - We also get Pre-School Playroom and he likes that also (usually Calliou, Clifford etc... are in there)

that's a great idea! The highlight of our afternoon is going to the mailbox, he would love it if something came for him.

I think it's an awesome idea. My almost 6 year old devours the regular Highlights - I got a stack of older ones at a yard sale and from ebay. His bday is coming so I just ordered him a subscription. I saw they have lots of additional books on their site that I might suggest to family looking for bday ideas. I know my kids don't need any more toys so if you're in the same boat, I love the idea for your son. It's $4.95 cover price at the store so the subscription is definitely worth it.
ETA: That's my Mom's bday too. She's a bit older though
