What do you think of this? (wedding related)

DH and I were married in April 2005 and still do not have a wedding album. We used 12th Night and they dont offer a package so thats the main reason why. We had ever intention of doing it eventually. (You know how that goes....) We even had most of the pictures picked out but then we moved in Feb and it got put on the back burner and we would have to start all over again.

So we were talking with friends Chat Icon the other night and they suggested at this point, why even get one?

We have 600 of the 1,100 proofs printed out and in a very nice wedding themed album. We also have another album with the B&W photojournalistic pictures, and several albums with every amature picture.

I should mention we would not consider a Shutterfly album. We would either do the full blown $1,000+ album through the photographer, or nothing at all.

I know most people rarely even look at their albums so what do you think? Given all we have and all the time has passed, not to mention the cost which at this point can be used for more important things!

We got married October of 2006. We are in the same boat. We went with a Freelance photographer and although we received ALL of our proofs and digital images, we haven't had the time to pick pictures, plus we want a digital album which is going to cost us.

We haven't ruled out getting ours from Shutterfly, or possibly creating our own. As much as we would love to get an album, at this point, it's not that important and to be honest, we can't afford it. Eventually I'd like to get pictures blown up and have an album made, but right now I'm not worrying about it.

I just got married and were kicking ourselves that we even bought the pkg with the album,b/c to be honest, we put all 2000 proofs in really nice leather albums and look at them so much I cant imagine that we would look at the album we need to pick pics for that will only be 60. (we also get all the pics on a cd to print and enlarge whenever)

With that said, I would say-ask to have the rest of your pics printed, and add to the already existing album.. And maybe print out a few enlargments and thats it. And maybe use some of the $ to have them put them all on a cd for you so you'll have more then just the printed copies.

I hope this helps youChat Icon

DH and I got married in June 2006 and PAID for our album in our package and still dont have it Chat Icon We have all 1,500 proofs, just haven't given the pictures to the photographer to put in an album. At this point I am sorry I even paid the $1,000 for the album. The same with our DVD. We have the unedited version but paid for an edited version in our package. We dont have the time to sit through a 12 hr. video and pick out what we want. Chat Icon

Wow.....I am glad to know I am not alone! The more I think about it, the more I am leaning toward not getting one since we have the best 600 proofs printed out.

BUT what if someone wants to see an abridged version of the wedding and not all of those proofs!??!Chat Icon

I too used 12th night, for the same reason. We wanted the photos and had no need for the expense of an album.

Over a year later and I don't regret that decision at all!

If you really feel the need for one then just make a snapfish one for those times, but truth be told, if you've been able to live this long without it you prolbally don't need one.

Re: What do you think of this? (wedding related)

I used 12th Night too. We have over 1300 pics and we printed them all. I put the ones that we liked into 2 albums, which was probably about 800 pics I think. I'm not sure what we are going to do. We were married in Oct. 06 and haven't started anything yet. I would love to get a digital album, but the cost of it right now is just too much. Maybe next year, but maybe never. We do have to blow some pics up though. That we are definitely doing. GL!

My album is short, old-fashioned and simple but I gotta say...the bride in that album looks younger, thinner and prettier with each passing day Chat Icon

I got married 5 months after you.......and I still dont have an album either. We used 12th night also.

We made one for our parents that came out beautiful but never had time to do my own........Chat Icon

But I will. It's just sorting thru zillions of photos just to make the album perfect is the time consuming aspect of it.

But that is next on my to do list and I dont think its EVER too late. I'm very determined! Chat Icon

Same here...and I agree. I don't even want my albums anymore- partly because I'm dissappointed in my pics and partly because I could've just put the proofs in albums...I'm not even getting one of the nice digital albums (just the library bound/matted one) so it sux

I love my album, and I look at it a few times a year. Could I live without it? Yes.

I am a 10/05 bride as well. If I didn't have one at this point I would probably skip it - that $1k can be much better spent elsewhere at this point!

Re: What do you think of this? (wedding related)

A formal album is something you will always have. The pictures are touched up and look so much nicer than the proofs. It is a personal choice to get it or not though. It is something you can pass onto your children one day - the proofs make get lost and the smaller albums damaged.

It is a personal choice to get it or not though.
