Teens suicide leads to indictment of 9 students?

I think its great that someone is finally holding kids responsible for the outcomes of their actions, like bullying. They are trying to get an anti-bullying law passed too. I think its fantastic and I hope that it starts to set a precedent for bullying to be taken more seriously since the effects can be disasterous.
I think its a necessary step since bullying these days is not the same as it was in 1950, or even when we were kids. It permeates the home now too, where kids used to be able to at least get a reprieve from it out of school. Now its brought into their homes on their computers.
Thoughts?

good.those kids should see how it feels for what they did to that poor girl. For someone to feel their only way out is by hanging themself...i cant even imagine.

Re: What do you think of this....aol article
I wish there was more specific info about the case. Everything is very vague-yet it seems that two of the students are being charged with statutory rape-so I am assuming she had s e x with two of these seniors and maybe one of the senior girls was jealous or something? Either way, IMO the SCHOOL is negligent. Even on the day she died, apparently she was being harrassed in the library and no one did anything about it(including faculty members who were there.)
I think its good that the kids are being charged but I don't know if this is going to stick since one of the police detectives involved said a lot of the info is 3rd and even 4th hand. All around its very sad

Re: What do you think of this....aol article
This story kills me. They just TORTURED this girl because she had the misfortune of 'not knowing her place'??? Really? And the fact that they continued to mock this poor girl AFTER she died makes me sick to my stomach.
The likelihood that anything will come of this criminally seems small.. but just the idea that these bullies have their names and faces on the internet .. I hope it's a deterrent for other wannabes.
I read that one of the girls who was charged had to take down her FB because she was being 'bullied' for being a bully. But as sweet as that irony is.. I really hope it doesn't continue. I just hope they grow up and realize how awful their behavior was. That their parents express their outrage and disappointment in their behavior, that other victims see them knocked down a few pegs and are able to recognize that nobody 'rules the school'... I hope this changes them and that they become different people. People who are able to raise compassion and understanding in others.

I also think that the staff that witnessed the bullying at the school should be charged. I thought all schools had zero tolerance policies, yet you hear about faculty members doing nothing all the time in cases like this.
