What do you want to do on Moms Day?

I wanted to sleep in and then just have a day of peace and quiet. Maybe go to Starbucks with a book, get a mani/pedi. My DH thinks it weird I dont want to spend the day with them. Its not that I dont want to, and we will have breakfast or dinner together. But Id kind of just like a day off too....I never get those.

Instead he has made plans for us to be at my inlaws for breakfast at 9am without asking....which is a little annoying bc now I have to get up at work week time to get us up and out of the house and to my ILs by 9.

Again, its not that I DONT want to spend the day with them, of course, Ill spend some time with them, Mommy just needs a break but DH thinks thats a little selfish.

DH leaves for work at 8AM on Mother's Day...I won't see him till 10:30 that night.

So its just going to be Josh and me. I guess he will be taking me out to lunch good thing I have been putting change in his piggy bank.

I already told DW that I plan on letting her NOT be a Mom for Mother's Day.... She can do whatever she wants. Go to Borders, sit on the PC, stay in bed, etc. I'll take care of DC.

In an ideal world, I would be going to brunch with my DH and my DD...then spending some time planting beautiful flowers and hanging out at home for awhile... and then for dinner we would take our moms out...

In reality, we are having brunch on Long Island my with mom and dad and then driving to CT to have dinner with his mom, dad, brothers...

(we live in CT- but we have a communion on Saturday on Long Island...)

Ugh.

We aren't doing anything. DH works overnights and has to work Saturday-Sunday and then just signed up for OT on Sunday night, so he will have to sleep all day on Sunday.

I am going to the city on Saturday to see my parents with DS, but that will be a lot of work too.

So it is a normal weekend around here

I don't think you are weird at all for wanting the day to yourself! I would have said I wanted exactly the same, but I did that on my birthday and felt bad about ditching DH and DS for both days!
If everything works the way I want it to, I will get what I want on Mother's day. We will see IL's on Saturday and Sunday will be church, brunch and the park.

I feel the same way you do but I feel guilty asking/telling DH what I want.

Ideally, I would love to sleep in late and then have brunch with my girlfriends, then go to the spa (get a massage, mani, pedi), and shopping.

It sounds horrible but if I had brunch with DH and DS, I know I would still be "on" as mommy.

In reality, we are having lunch with my mom and my brother's families.

What I really want is to sleep late, but that isn't going to happen because DH has softball.

I want fudgy the whale but I won't get it becuase we just had a huge party with tons of fattening leftovers.....

I told DH that I want to go to brunch or do something just the 3 of us in the AM.

On sat, if it's not pouring, we'd like to plant all the flowers in mom's yard, just like we do every year....

I wanted to brunch at the Snapper (or Riverview), but they are not serving brunch. My bro offered to host brunch so we're going there, and shopping with my mom after. I am bringing DS - he is only 4 mos old and b/c I am a new working mom, and am still adjusting to being away from him - I miss him. I have asked DH to get up with him that morning so I can sleep late(r).

What I want- to lie on a beach drinking pina colada's in the hot Aruban sun

What I will do: get the house cleaned for our parents, brother, aunt, cousin, and grandmother to come over for a bbq which they will probably give all the attention to and then clean up afterwards.

Im going to be recovering from my c section at home with Bry and DH.
Then, we'll come here (hospital) and spend time with DD.
As far as dinner and all, Im not so sure. Maybe going to dads?
I'd LOOOVVEEEE Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Cake (Hey, Sunday is my bday too, so I don't mind a "combo" cake..LOL)

Wish DD would be home with us too but I know we'll come spend time with her

what i want to do: be on a vacation in vegas or somewhere else where it is sunny, warm, and where i can just relax if i want to by a pool with a frozen drink, and also have the option to shop til i drop and some great stores, lol, but in reality, i would love to spend the days just ourselves and go somewhere out for the day with dd...

what i will REALLY being doing is:
MIL already claimed the day with a bbq at her house as usual. its at 3 so there isnt much time for us to go out and do something ourselves earlier.
i told dh today that i am a mom too, and should get to do something for mom's day too, not just go to his moms all the time. dh works saturday morning tso maybe i will take dd out saturday am, someplace a park or something and have a early lunch, and then we can all go out later in the day when dh comes home. if the weather is nice i think next year i am going to plan more in advance and have something here at my house where everyone can come over later in the day for a bbq, so i dont have to go there and drive back and forth, etc

That won't happen here

My parents are due to arrive in NY tomorrow afternoon (so I know mom willl be a baby hog ~ so I will get a little time to myself and I will enjoy it) then Sunday we will be driving my parents back to the airport. Then probably meeting up with my mil or something!

We're going to go to breakfast with my mom - someplace simple.

Then I want to go and do something fun with DD. Since I don't get to spend time with her every day I want to see her having fun.

We may stop by my ILs too, but I'd rather not spend my day there..

nothing. I would love to jsut sleep in. Or past 6am. After that I don't care.
