What does chocolate gonache taste like?
I saw a christening cake with chocolate gonache frosting and the girl said it tasted like fudge but then I heard it tastes like a creamy chocolate. So what does it really tast like, I'm thinking of doing my son's christening cake with gonache frosting.
Also, do you think chocolate gonache frosting with vanilla cake and chocolate mousse sound good together?

Re: What does chocolate gonache taste like?
I think it would depend on the quality of the chocolate and the quantity of how much they add to make it.
I make a chocolate raspberry ganache pie and it is fudge like in consistency, but not in taste. It tastes very chocolatey.
I think it sounds wonderful, especially when you add the mousse to it.
Is time an issue, maybe they can make a small cake for a small fee?

Re: What does chocolate gonache taste like?
Well depending on whether it's used as a frosting or a filling the consistency could be slightly different (by changing the ratio of cream to chocolate). Here's the "frosting" version (like a glaze):
Your combo sounds great to me, but one of the baker types on here will have to tell you about working with it though; I specialize in the EATING part.
ETA: You have a small typo, it's spelled "Ganache" so that's what you'll need to search for recipes, etc!

I'm glad it all sounds good together and I'm pretty sure I'll go with that. I just don't wnat it too chocolatey either. Time is an issue, Have to place my order real soon. The girl at the bakery recommended that combination.

Re: What does chocolate gonache taste like?
Thanks for posting that pic. The cake I saw in their book had the frosting look just like that. It had a glaze to it just like that and the decorations the baker did on top was just beautiful pearly white roses in a cross shape and pearly white swirls around the cake. It was really pretty. I'm actually going to post a pic of it from their website. Here it is
