What does early labor feel like?

I will be 37 weeks on Saturday. I have been feeling light cramps more consistently now but that is all they are just light cramps. I have no idea if I am dilating as I haven't got an internal yet and am not due to get one until next Thursday.

Any idea why I am getting light menstrual cramps?

Anything I should look out for?

Exactly like, menstural cramps!

They start out light and then will come more often.

Unless you are dehydrated and its braxton hicks but I never had those to know if they feel the same, So i hear they do.

It's normal for you to be feeling achy. You are at the prime time. You may be in early labor, who knows. But don't be alarmed. I remember being hooked up to the monitor and having contractions and yet not feeling a thing. Try and take it easy too. Make sure to communicate all that you're feeling to your doctor.

When I was in early labor it felt like menstrual cramps. Then they became regular and I could time them...that's when it was labor-labor!

Ugh, same here... and i woke up this morning wondering the same thing..

I had the same thing also!! Dr said it was perfectly normal at that stage of pregnancy and if they got a lot worse to start timing them! I think I was also dehydrated...so make sure you drink a lot!!!!

OMG!!! I will die, my sister is getting married next Friday

I noticed them since last Thursday but I wasn't getting them often but now I feel like i am getting my period. The cramps have gotten closer together and are more often.

I will call my doctor and see what she says.

When early labor begins how long does it last until you go into active labor?

Please do not get alarmed. I had those menstrual cramps for a while on and off. and with DC#1, I went 2 weeks early (but had to be induced because there was nothing consistent) and with DC#2 I had those pains for weeks and I was 4 days late! Hang in there.

I have been having menstrual-like cramps for WEEKS now... since about 34 weeks. I am due on Saturday so these cramps did not indicate labor starting for me.

Those cramps are normal. I had my first internal at 36 weeks and was starting to dilate and had already been feeling some cramps. Now at 38 weeks, 2 days they're stronger but I'm now 80% effaced and had my membranes stripped yesterday.

Wow.. thats comforting news to hear. . This is probably because she has 17 people in her waiting room right now.
