What does Heartburn feel like?
I ate dinner kinda late last night and it was a heavy meal (Homemade Baked Mac & Cheese with greasy cheese). Ever since I went to bed last night, I feel like I need to burp, but nothing will come out. I can feel it from like my diaphram up to my throat. It doesn't hurt, it's just uncomfortable. You think this could be heartburn? I never had it before....
Any suggestions on what to eat/not eat?

Heartburn is just that- a burning sensation from your chest up to your throat. I've suffered with hb on and off through out my pregnancy and I've found there's not too much of a ryhme or reason to when I get it. Certain things may not bother me at all and the next time I'll get hb. They do say that eating smaller meals and trying to avoid eating late night will help. I keep a bottle of Tums with calcium next to my bed and pop them if/when I feel the need.

I had heartburn a lot during my first trimester. Don't eat anything spicy or acidy, and don't eat a lot at a time, or late at night. I used to eat a light dinner and then nothing else after, otherwise I'd have bad heartburn and have to sleep with pillows propped up behind me

What you had and what I get all the time is indigestion. I feel like my food takes forever to digest and it just sits in my stomach and chest and hurts. The dr. said I can take tums and mylanta which helps break it down alittle. Try that next time.

Katie - I have heard that heartburn during pregnancy means the baby will have a lot of hair!  Probaby an Old Wives Tail, but if baby Leah comes out with a full head of hair I'm gonna give her pig tails

I think my baby is bald bc THANK GOD...no heart burn here!

I am in my 2nd trimester and have had the bad indigestion when I eat since my 2nd month. Some poeople get it and some don't. It sucks I know!Tums and mylants help. I have had such bad indigestion and gas that I thought I was gonna die once. Hot tea also helps to break up the indigestion!

I've had a little bit off and on throughout the pregnancy and the Tums really helped me.
