What does RE stand for?
I know its a spoecialist but what does it stand for and what do they do is that who you go to fro invitro only or other things too?I am asking b/c i think my thyroid migt be my problem in keeping a pregnacy would an RE be the person to see?

Reproductive Endocrinologist. They are basically ob/gyns with an extra 3 years of fertility, and endocrine system training. There are very few RE's in this country because their training is intense.
You see a RE when you are dealing with infertility. TTC for a year if you are under 35, 6 months if you are over 35 , or if you have had recurrent pregnancy loss. All those define-infertility.
You can see an endocrinologist for your thyroid, but they will not be familiar, with all the fertility testing etc. I see an endocrinologist and a reproductive endocrinologist.
