what does the deed look like?
I need to get our Star Application in - but we dont have the recorded deed- I did a search on here and people said that we should have gotten a copy at closing - i went thru our file, but I cant find what I think is the deed...

It's usually about a two page document that shows the sale of property from ABC to XYZ.
ETA: You might not have a copy of the recorded version yet. The title closer will take the signed version to the county recorder after the closing to have it recorded.

i was looking for ours as well last week to file our star application.
i called the town and they said they had everything on file for the deed so i didn't need it.

ours is filed with the city....we got a notice in the mail that is was written and filed with the city.

we dont have that luxury in NY  its filed with the town, along with all the other deeds, so its probably in a pile somewhere in the assessors office.

We had a copy of the unrecorded deed and the Town accepted that from us until the new deed is avail. in a month.

ok - I definitely have a legal size page and I thought that was a copy of the deed. I'll give that a shot, since i ve been on hold with Brookhaven for the past 10 minutes

Mine was 2 legal size pages, and we submitted all the paperwork for STAR in Brookhaven using copies of them, and they didn't say they wouldn't work. Good luck!

mine is front to back - it was the document i thought it was (the legal size) - my aunt/attorney was over my house tonite and found it for me. thanks for the help gals

We received a photocopy from our attorney and just recently an original copy. If you live in Nassau (my only experience) you can definitely get a copy on your own from the town office. We got copies of a few homes we had been looking at during our search.

you can definitely get a copy on your own from the town office
We can get copies of our deed's from our town? Mine would be the Town of Hempstead. I want to send in my STAR application but have no idea what the deed looks like either. If I can get it from the town, it will be so much easier.

much easier.
Perfect - I am in the town of hempstead so I know for a fact that you can get them so long as they are filed.
We went to the building on Old Country Road - actually the same building where you can file your STAR application. On the street level floor - when you first walk in - there was a room with computer terminals. If you go to the counter someone can help you figure it all out. If you have your Lot/Block/Section with you it'll be faster - if not there are additional terminals where you put your address and it gives you the info.
You can print two copies and attach one to your STAR application and then walk it up to the office.
