Whatever will make them happy and smile. I'd rather have smiling faces with shirts *I* didn't pick out (we buy their clothes anyway at this age, so there's no clothes we *hate*), instead of having clothes that we picked out, but grumpy faces....

I dont dress my dc up that much. My ds wore a button down shirt and tan pants. and dd wore a babydoll dress with leggings.
