What exactly does...
a REAL contraction feel like???
The last 2 times I went to the DR she asked if I was having any contractions..and I kinda just looked at here with a blank stare...
Obviously I havent had any effective ones..because Ive made no progress at all..but I would kinda like to know what to expect..
Is it at all like the BH...just like a feeling of the baby rolling into a ball..into one area..and everything tightening up...or is it more like AF cramps...?

Some people never know they are having them and do not feel much of anything in the beginning. I wish I were that lucky.
The best way I can describe them is a cramping feeling in your back (like you are going to get AF) and then a burning sensation that crosses over the stomach in waves.

Well, last night they hooked me up to the monitor and I could see when I was contracting so now I know what it really feels like! It does feel like BH... everything tightens a little, almost like when the baby stretches inside of you. A few seconds after I feel the tightening then I feel some cramps in my abdomen like AF cramps, and then it wraps around to my back, which tightens a little and gives off a dull aching sensation. And then it goes away... be happy that you don't feel anything! Some women don't! My mom NEVER felt labor contractions, the lucky thing. I thought I'd be lucky enough to follow in her footsteps, but unfortunately no such luck!

It's a "braxton hicks" contraction... it's not a real contraction that accompanies labor or brings on dilation. It's what they nickname a "fake" contraction. You start getting them usually in the third trimester, and it's almost like you're body practicing for the real deal. It feels like you're tummy tightening like a contraction but there usually isn't any or much pain associated with it...

Thanks, I knew what Braxton Hicks were, I just couldn't figure out the lingo
