Re: What food to avoid?
Anything that would make you gassy, or anything spicy. You just have to think of the foods that you hear people complain give them heartburn. I had to stop all dairy since many babies are sensitive to dairy products, so you may want to cut down on dairy and see of there is an improvement.
cabbage, pizza, mexican foods, broccoli, carbonated drinks, beans. etc.

Re: What food to avoid?
I liked spices so of course spices without a doubt. (garlic/peppers my favorite cravuing prenant and not pregnant they are my weakness.) Mostly anything that was gassy they told me to limit

Re: What food to avoid?
Thanks ladies!! So far so good, I've avoided most of the foods you have named. What about:
Chocolate Coffee (I've heard no before, I guess I am just hoping its ok) Sushi Tomato sauce (I've heard can be too acidic?)

Re: What food to avoid?
I haven't been avoiding much of anything. I was wondering about the Sushi as well. I am dying to have some when we get home next week. My ped. told me that at the end of the day you have to eat and to try and eat things in moderation. I also think of the women in India who eat a lot of curries and spicy foods, I am sure their bf babies are fine.

Yes, but culturally they eat that food through our teir entire pregnancy so their babies while in utero become very accustomed to digestion of those type of foods. It's just like some ladies say if they crave once certain food their ENTIRE pegnancy they find that at toddlers their toddler LOVES that food. Our diet is much blander than other countries. You can have sushi but you have to make sure it comes from a reputable place that is in sequence with FDA food handling standards.

I agree, if you eat certain foods all along then your baby should be fine. I don't think any one type of food in moderation is a problem and if you have always eaten spicy foods or dairy products then your baby should be ok. I just think it is hard to determine what foods you are eating that don't agree with your baby.
