looking for ideas - having a "staycation"!

I know there are beaches, local parks and the Holtsville Ecology site.

Anything else you can suggest that is either free or under $10 per person?

How old are your kids?

Long Island Children's Museum..I think it's $6 or $7

Port Jeff Village has free concerts on Thursdays as well as free entertainment for kids also on Thursdays. Tonight was a magic show, it was pretty cute! www.portjeff.com

Wednesday nights at Brookhaven Amphitheater, they have movie night, $5 a car load.

Public Pools are cheap - I know the Centereach one is $4 for adults $2 for kids (town resident prices), they have sprinklers and a water slide

Port Jeff Village Maritime Museum for Kids, $5, 1-5pm on Saturdays and Sundays

Chuck E Cheese - There are coupons online for 100 tokens for $10, we went today, madhouse! So don't go on rainy days. I did meet another LIFer there who also braved the madness though

Broadway Mall has some free kids activities, I believe there is a story time on the 30th
http://www.broadwaymall.com/events.aspx

Once Upon a Treetop, fun for infants to probably age 10. $12 for walkers, $6 for crawlers, parents free

Bronx Zoo - Free on Wednesdays, I hear it's really busy that day though!

Suffolk County Farm in Yaphank, Free! Kinda dirty, but hey...it's a farm!!

The Long Island Museum in Stony Brook
http://www.broadwaymall.com/events.aspx $7 per person, $3 for 6-17, under 6 is free!

That's all I can think of off the top of my head!!

If you have an entertainment book, there are a lot of buy one get one free coupons inside for many local attractions!
