What goes on at your Second Visit??

Do they check for the heartbeat everytime??

How do they do that??
Sorry for the dumb questions. I did have a sonogram done at my first visit and I was 7 weeks and heard the heartbeat.

Did your husband go with you to every appointment?

Going forward, your visits will probably go like this:

Urine Sample
Weight
Blood Pressure
Listen to babys heartbeat w/doppler

My husband only goes to the sono appointments with me. I see no reasony why he should be there for a 5 minute Dr. appointment.

It depends on your doctor. I had my first sonogram at the second appointment (7-8 weeks). At my next appointment (11 weeks), I filled out a lot of paperwork about my family medical history and I had the finger prick portion of the NT test. That was also the first time I heard the heartbeat with the doppler.

How far along will you be at your next appointment? If you're at least 11-12 weeks, the doctor may try to hear the heartbeat with the doppler. If not, you may not hear it for a few more weeks.

DH has only been to the appointments where I had a sono. Most of my appointments consist of quickly listening to the heartbeat and checking blood pressure, weight and urine. I don't see the need for him to go to those appointments.

My DH is going because our 2nd visit will be our first sono at 11 weeks.

We have 2 appts scheduled that day; the first with the sono tech, and the second with the doctor, who will be doing a general exam and pap. After the visit I am going for bloodwork to start the 30-190 series of genetic testing.

My 2nd appointment was going over the blood work, talking about sono, and ordering more blood work for progesterone test. He said the next invasive appointment won't be until about 28 or 32 wks so I'm happy about that........Joe goes to the u/s's but he did go to the last appointment because he had questions. He will only be going to u/s from now on. It's to hard with him working nights and me on days to sched the appointments and there is no need to stay up for 27hrs for a 5min appointment IMHO....he agrees

gotcha thanks ladies!! I guess I feel bad because I didn't think when I had my first visit I was 7 weeks that they were going to do a sono and they did and he wasn't there. So now when I for my second appointment I will be 11weeks I guess they will listen to the heartbeat and I at least want him to hear that!!!
