What grade does religious instruction start?

It depends on your church. Where we go it starts in 1st grade and you home teach. They go to actual classes beginning in second grade.

Same with our parish.
Another parish in my area, it starts with classes in 1st grade on.

In my parish (im in queens), they start classes in 1st grade, and make communion in 2nd grade.

We're in NC, but my older son started this past September which is 1st grade and he'll continue classes through 2nd grade and then make his communion. He goes to a weekly hour class. It's a Good Shepherd hands on class so it's not just a boring book, it's all hands on. Our church seems to be the only one offering this class down here.

Same with out church.
The have Communion in 2nd grade.
DS was late to start so he is in 3rd and doing his Communion in May.

Thanks Ladies, according to our parish web site they start in 1st grade, 1 session a month ( St. Joes in Ronkonkoma), they are sending me registration forms

Same here but in our old town it started with classes at first grade. I liked it much better that way!
